If nothing is currently wrong the Caravan keep driving it. I personally would be more worried driving a 6+ yr old vehicle with no idea of any maintenance or driving style with it. If you know the history of replacement move on if you desire.
Friend's wife has a 2004 Grand Caravan with everything on it. It stickered over $30,000 when it was new.
It was flawless for the first 60,000 miles. Then, between 60,000 and 70,000 miles, it racked up $3,000 in repairs.
He doesn't know if it is time to dump it for a 2010 Odyssey (if he can still find one, because he's not buying one of those ugly 2011's), or take his chances on the next 20,000 miles...
I'd keep the vehicle I know well for around town and normal usage. If you are worried about long trips to very rural area's; rent a van for those times. 9k will pay for a lot of maint/ repairs and rentals...
Wow, 130K, and that is considered high mileage. I just rolled that on the Expedition and wouldn't think twice about driving it to BC tomorrow. Heck, my parents are hopping into their '00 Expie after Christmas and driving it back to New Brunswick. It has made that trip something like 5 times in the last year. And it has roughly the same mileage on it.
I'm not a "van person" so maybe I can't relate? We've primarily owned big cars (Panther-chassis) and SUV's. And 200,000Km has never been any sort of "scary" milestone..... Heck, my old Lincoln is coming up on twice that, LOL!
We have a 2005 Caravan, bought it 2006 with 20,000 miles on it and now has 80,000. It has had some AC issues and we had some work done on the power steering, the EGR valve had to be replaced and the brakes have been done twice, the front power window motor for the passenger had to be fixed, other than that just oil and filter changes. It has not been the most reliable car, but for what it is I think buying a one or two year old caravan ($15,000), knowing that you might have to put a little money into it is a decent buy. All cars have some issues, and since the resale value on caravans is horrible they can be a good buy.
I think Caravans with the 3.3 are actually pretty darn good vehicles.
Where I used to work must have had at least 3 or 4 of those vans with 3.3's and they were just oil and brakes. I rather liked them. And for what they cost to buy, you are better off keeping it (rock bottom resale value)
Interesting point of views on the two vans. As anything Toyota the price tag reflects it's name. Next year we may think about getting a minivan to replace the Escape. The Escape is a very reliable but with two kids not sure how that's work space wise. They have newer Sienna's at work and I do like how they drive.. fairly quick the new ones. The older 02 Caravan with the 3.3L isn't really that bad either. Reliability wise the Caravan right up there with the Sienna. If I could fine a Sienna with decent price would get one of those but it'll probably come down to a Sedona or Caravan.
But to the OP I'd almost stick with what you know if it's paid off. If you're worried about reliability buy a newer one with only 30k and warranty.

Why not consider a Flex or Edge? Maybe an Expedition or Explorer?

A Flex I would consider but prices are too high yet, 20k and higher. Edge/Exlporer wouldn't really be an improvement just a little bit more cargo room. Still seats 5.. Seating for 7 would of came in handy more times that I could count. Expedition absolutely is out of the question. The Escape gets bad enough mpg on a bad day and that's better than a Expedition on a good day. A minivan would get the same mpg as the Escape.
