Crashed the Caravan

Hi Everyone:

Well I had a really bad accident this past weekend and crashed my '18 Dodge Grand Caravan GT. It has 60,000km (37.5K Miles). I swerved to miss a pack of Coyotes I couldn't see on a dark back country road up near my parents and well I hit the gravel on the side, lost control and ended up rolling it in a ditch.

The damage was so severe to the body and structure and with all of the airbags going off they wrote it off. I walked away with minor scratches.
I tried taking pictures but it was super dark and my phone couldn't see anything.

I'm picking up my new 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan on Wednesday. I went silver this time because the black was too difficult to keep clean.

Thought I'd share some photos of it here, and yeah it'll get Amsoil once the break-in is done.

Until 2021 I found out today when negotiating for this one... Maybe just in Canada I'm not sure but definitely Dodge Grand Caravan until next year. Talk about a long model cycle LOL.

What I tell my kids, run into anything smaller than a moose.
Safer than ditching the vehicle.
If it's a moose hit the brakes and make small steering adjustments to try to minimise the hit.
Same training rolled out for our 1800 drivers in a fleet spread across Canada.

Yeah it was totally me over reacting too much with the steering, and it was a group of about 12 of them that jumped up out of the ditch right in front of me and I slammed on the brakes but it was too late not to hit them and I over steered in the panic because it was so sudden.

Let me tell you how many airbags that Caravan has because I experienced them all. HA!

Few scratches on me and a bruised arm, but I walked away from a pretty mangled upside down van.

Glad to hear you weren't seriously injured, sounds like it was a pretty severe crash. Any pictures of the carnage?

Yeah, that 2020 Caravan looks very 1980s like.... kind of like my Charger. LoL.

It's definately long in the tooth. They were available in the middle of 2010 with that design. My cousin bought one of the first. The 2011 I drove for the chemical company I worked for that my dad now has, has a pile of miles on it. Still going strong and all original, untouched. My in-laws 2017 is doing well and my other cousins 2015 has been rock solid. Can't beat them for the price. Loaded on the road they are $38K Canadian ($29K USD) at present pricing.

Just been busy with other stuff and my dad. Spending lots of time with my dad before he passes on. I read a lot here, just not in the mood to post sort of thing.

Wife and I strongly considered a 2019 GT (ex-rental) before we bought our Sedona. A lot of van for the money if you don't mind not having the latest tech and creature comforts. According to Wikipedia, the production of them ended on August 21st of this year.
