Can't Get Enough Ice Cream - Anyone Else?

I offer my opinion only. Everyone has their opinion.

I guess I'm in no need to put anyone on the ignore list.

I was more or less replying to what greenaccord said in his reply.

Buy top tier ice cream. More milk fats for flavor and sweetness. When on the Atkins, I could tolerate moderate frequency of (something like) Breyers. The amount, per serving, didn't seem to matter (some sensible portion). Blood sugar still stayed around 100 without insulin or meds. Cheaper stuff probably doses it with refined sugar and some emulsifiers to achieve the mix.

Naturally this wouldn't be something like Reese's or anything with tons of candy mixed in it.

I haven't eaten ice cream in decades. In general sugar foods don't agree with me, plus I just don't believe it's right to eat sugar.

What I sometimes make that's like ice cream is frozen bananas mixed with home made yogurt or milk, whizzed in a food processor with cinnamon. It's very sweet -- too sweet for me to want to eat too often.

I get sweetness from fruit, vegetables, and whole grains. Personally I don't have a need for anything sweeter than that. The diet I eat is high carb but no sugar -- all whole foods carbs.

Lurch,

Thank you for your concern, "but":

I see you're against sugar big time, but that doesn't mean I need to be against it or reduce it.

Are you trying to change people's minds against sugar?

I have every right to eat this much. I'll go without it for long periods also.

I do not eat many other sugar items. My blood sugar level is mid 90's, so I am f-i-n-e.

Am very fit, can do 140 push-ups, fast walk 45 minutes 4-5 days a week, haul & split wood with an ax for hours, etc.

After eating Sherman's Ice Cream, nothing else comes close. They have their own store in South Haven, MI. Oink's in New Buffalo, MI uses their products. Homemade, no artificial stuff, the real deal. Once I had Sherman's, nothing in a grocery store looked good to me. Sure, there are some nice flavors and & all, but nothing like Sherman's.

I only post how I feel. If anyone wants to stop using sugar it's up to them. I'm not trying to convert anyone.

I don't believe sugar has any need to be in anyone's diet. Some people use it freely, thinking it's much better than alcohol or drugs, and they're right--to a point.

I appreciate the sweetness of whole foods such as organic apples, pineapple, plums, bananas, rice, beans, organic potatoes, tomatoes, etc. When I was eating sugar, I didn't like the taste of good whole foods such as this, but now that I don't eat sugar any more (or smoke any more), I appreciate the taste of these whole foods, so at least for me, cutting out sugar has seemed to help me. I can even eat plain yogurt (and I often do) which would turn many people off because their taste buds are so accustomed to sugary sweet foods.

Hopefully you will also be f-i-n-e in the long run.

I do when the weather's warmer; there's a really good place not too far from where we live that we walk to and pretend we're burning some of it off.

Their lemon custard is my favorite (there's another local shop with a nearly equal lemon). They both do a GREAT "pumpkin" in the fall too. Otherwise it's mint chocolate chip or Spumoni, which is nearly impossible for me to find for some reason. I actually had a Spumoni "stash" for a while! One member of my family is a Dairy Queen addict, so sometimes we go together. I think their banana cream pie and Heath bar ones are pretty good.
