Have you seen the test the PQIA just did of GTX? Zikes it is NOT out done by others on paper anymore, impressive!

But if you are fortunate enought to have Magnatec at the same price I'd go Magnatec. Love that stuff!

I had a 96 Merc GM with the same engine(4.6) and sold it with 218K. I used M1 10-30 and changed it every 10K, and my 4.6 stayed like new clean as well.

They're all good choices, though my opportunities with Chevron have obviously been limited. Somehow, I got some Chevron PSF or ATF in the garage, of all things. Don't ask where it came from.

You're not wrong mate !!! The recent (2017) PQIA tests of Castrol GTX 5W20 are very impressive.
(PQIA 2017 GTX 5W20)

TBN = 8.7 (heaps of Acid neutralization potential for a long OCI)
KV100 = 9.2 cSt (typical thick for grade Castrol, me like)
Noack Volatility = 11.6 % (better than some full synthetics and semi-synthetics tested)
Ca = 2650 ppm ( lots 'o detergent)
Zn = 817 ppm ( at the top end of the ILSAC zinc level)
Mo = 86 ppm ( nice touch of Moly)
B = 195 ppm ( very strong on Boron)

This ain't your Grandad's GTX, Castrol have put a lot of effort in keeping this oil up to date.
