Mobil 1 0w-40 - Supercar or FS?

Among the M1 0w40's, the ESP X3 and C40 GT are the most shear stable. The Supercar 0w40 was tested for 24 months with GM through track use. The Supercar 0w40 is a nice oil. Notice all but the FS 0w40 contain some ester.

Another interesting Mobil 1 oil that gets overlooked is TSUV. Contains AN and is more shear stable than regular Mobil 1.

For those that think these are just run of the mill oils, take a look at this article. These oils exceed specifications.

My favorite LSJr vid by far. If I remember correctly TSUV was even more shear stable than EP.

I'm still weirded out by the KV for the FS being way off from what it's supposed to be.

I'm running one of my favorite oils now (Amsoil SS) but I'm tempted to try either Supercar 0w40, ESP 5w30, TSUV 5w30, RL 5w30 or HPL Euro 5w30. So many great choices my BITOG brain can't decide. :ROFLMAO: I will be doing an oil change hopefully some time this month and want to see how Amsoil SS held up with all the short trips I've done over the winter. I'll probably have close to 6k miles on the oil. If it drops out of grade, I'll likely move to ESP or TSUV. I expect it to remain in grade as Amsoil is very shear stable using a very high quality VM.

Looking forward to that UOA!!! I’m sure the SS over performed.

Ouch! Would love to go back in time, run FS or SuperCar 0w40 on that day and curious if the outcomes would have been different.

Gorgeous ATS brother! Just change the oil more often, even if you waste a bit of $$ for oil on track day, and install that accumulator.

If my wife would let me, I'd trade two 2.0T's for one ATS-V!

Once I got the words "track day" I knew 5W30 will not do it. Then I got to the part where you sheered a 40 to a 30 in 2 days and blew an engine on 5W30. Whoa! What comes to my mind after that is 5W50.

It takes me 3000 miles in the 440 horsepower Ecoboost monster to sheer it like that. It took you 2 days! 100% 5W50. I have no knowledge of Super Car but I would be reaching for that...

You notice the OP's Blackstone VOA has Supercar at 11.88cSt while this analysis has it at 13.03? And of course we know the above for FS isn't the same as spec, 12.87 vs 13.8.
