Not changing the filter would be like wearing dirty underwear.
I never used an oil filter for more than one OCI until I bought my Focus which has a belly pan that has 9 screws (with 2 different heads).
Many engines, even after draining and changing the filter, still have quite a bit oil left in the engine. My car, a 2.5 liter Camry, retains about a quart.
Not changing the filter would be like wearing dirty underwear.
Me too, but then I was able to THINK and UNDERSTAND my way out of it.I started to do multiple OCIs on a filter.
So far the engine hasn't fallen out.
And I used to be in the other camp...
So what do you do about all the old oil your engine retains up inside of it every single time? Please explain your procedure how you remove it. Thanks. You can but changing your filter gets most old oil out.
A half quart of oil contaminates your other 5 1/2 quarts
Is your underwear dirty at 12 noon? Do you stop in your tracks at 12 noon each day to change your underwear? Why Not??Not changing the filter would be like wearing dirty underwear.
Machinery Lubrication states that filters are MORE important than oil choice + should ALWAYS be changed with the oil!! i might add although many filters are better BUT their TEA CUP sizing ia an ISSUE. like extending changes skipping the filter is just "penny wise + dollar foolish" aka STUPID!!! not rushing the drain is good as well + if its a DIY raise the vehicle to get the drain plug lower + see the DIRTY oil drain vs a level lift dine at garages + the hotter the better IMO!!
Thanks for sharing, So if I change my oil at 5000 miles, it wouldn’t make sense to waste my money on a 20,000 mile rated filter???Machinery Lubrication states that filters are MORE important than oil choice + should ALWAYS be changed with the oil!! i might add although many filters are better BUT their TEA CUP sizing ia an ISSUE. like extending changes skipping the filter is just "penny wise + dollar foolish" aka STUPID!!! not rushing the drain is good as well + if its a DIY raise the vehicle to get the drain plug lower + see the DIRTY oil drain vs a level lift dine at garages + the hotter the better IMO!!
I can’t decide to get the shorts with silver or the oil with titanium …Then you immediately Shart the old oil into the new filter and back through the engine so you go from dirty pair to dirty pair anyway.
Fram Ultras cost more like $12.What's a filter cost in the US?, five bucks?. Just change the **** thing each time. Here in Australia, mine cost $19USD and I don't blink at changing it every 5000 miles.

I'll snap a pic on a slow day over in Walmart, there's a slight possibility those are the Mobil 1 filter prices but I can check. Not sure where you shop, but I can get them for $8.30 all day long.
Well.... it's only when the underwear gets brown spots on it that won't come out that you'd need to change the underwear. Not changing the filter would be like wearing dirty underwear.

Here is one that's $11 ($10.97 to be exact) so maybe it varies. https://www.amazon.com/XG9688-Ultra...words=fram+ultra+xg9719&qid=1608847601&sr=8-6
All day long plus not stepping one foot into that pathetic place.
Plus the oil swirls in the opposite direction in Oz ... so the filter's don't have to be high efficiency. We don’t get any kangaroos or spiders running against the flow in toilets, so hence cheaper filters as a compensation
