I think we need to face the fact that we live in a global economy, where many things are made in foreign countries, and made with quality to boot. The US exports many products to nations all over the world as well.
Lets face it....WM does save families hundred and thousands of dollars yearly...and in these times with the economy and job losses, those dollars saved do help.
If money is no object to you....you have the right to shop elsewhere....spend more $$$...and avoid all the riff raff at WM. I'll continue to shop at WM....and save my family many dollars each year.
I didn't buy produce at WalMart until I started seeing these signs:
"Locally Grown" is a bit of a stretch when El Paso is closer to California than it is to Dallas. The produce can be grown in my state and still be trucked a long way. But I do feel better about produce grown in my state and/or country. Washington State apples over Peoples Republic of China....etc...
I buy oil at WalMart too. 5 qts of QuakerState Green bottle 5W20 for $13. I can hunt down a bargain from a bunch of different stores or buy what works for me for about $2.60 a qt.
(they were out of QSGB 5W20 last time but I will be returning to it) Buy the clown hearse's Syn there too. 5qts, $20. Motorcraft filters for either less than $4.00 (PT uses an FL400S, Mazda uses an FL820S) I've switched exclusively to G-Oil for my OPE. It's always availiable and it's priced fair
I don't buy shoes there. I've looked at them and I do not want. I will buy Dickies work clothes there. They're made in Honduras and I'm not entirely thrilled with that. I would be much happier if they were still made in Ft Worth. But they are still very durable and last longer than they should at the price.
Clothes Detergent. I've priced the competition. Sometimes you can get a better price on Tide, but most other major brands are significantly less at WalMart.
If you have a baby, Diapers are far less at WalMart.
Scotts Bonus S was like $4 less than Home Depot and Lowes last time I bought it.
I still don't buy meat or fish there. I know it's supposed to be greatly improved but I still prefer Kroger or Tom Thumb (Safeway) for that.
