Mixing oil

A little story. Last July I went to change oil in Caravan and I swore I had enough oil. I drained oil out then went for my oil and realized that I only had I 5qt jug of Valvoline Advance 5w20 but I still wasn't concerned as I could use that then go to store for the other qt when done. I opened the container then realized that the seal was broke so looked and sure enough only 4 qts. Since I only put 3k that year on Shell gas truck 0w20, I strained the oil and used 2 qts of oil. I got busy and forgot about changing the oil out as Wife was ill. Fast forward 5k later and 8 months oil is still full and clean. The oil change reminder is at 35% so I bought 6 qts, however with wife is in hospice I might not get to it before the year is up. Would you worry about it? I bought the stash in 2018 after I bought van so oil in engine was purchased 6 years ago. I was thinking of going to the year or light, however I hate to do anything as I can get that call everyone dreads at anytime.

I’m sorry to hear about your wife. I can’t imagine how difficult that it is

Take it to a VIOC with a coupon and get it done. Sure it’s a little more expensive but you’re in and out in 20 minutes. It’ll give you one less worry and more time to spend with your wife.

Sorry to hear about your wife.

I can't imagine the van the gets run too hard. I wouldn't worry about it. I would run it a full year or another 3000ish miles. I just do it about once a year in the Trans Am but that is usually about 2000 miles.

I wouldn't worry about the oil. You will be fine. Spending time with her is much more important.

Sending prayers for you and your wife. The van will be just fine. Oils are generally miscible, especially motor oil. Plenty of cars do quite well even with an intermittent maintenance schedule, especially American cars.
