OK, the local Wally's carrys Frams, ST, and Motorcraft filters. I already know the Frams are junk (except the pricey X2 models), so it comes down to the ST or the Motorcraft. So, great oil gurus, which should I get for my wife's Ford Escort wagon? Thanks.

The ST is perfectly acceptable but I agree with labman, I buy Motorcrafts for my Fords except for my current experiment with a K&N. Also Walmarts here have a bunch of Motorcrafts (and Frams

)but seem to be cutting down on the ST's.

buy the motoorcraft, it's one of the best filter's out there, and Walmart has the best price on them also. Autozone $3.49/Pep Boys $3.79/Wally $2.77 on FL400s's

...and here's ANOTHER vote for Motorcraft...

I choose Super Tech filters, they are on all my vehicles.

I have never had a problem with them.

I use Supertech for my wifes car, but they don't make one for my beater so I also use purolator. If they had a Motorcraft filter for my car, I'd probably buy that. I like the craftsmenship of Purolator's filters.

Come on guys, this is a topic about oil filters. You can start a Kerry vs. Bush thread in the general section.

I used to hear extended valve train noise in the mornings with Frams, that never happened again after swapping out the filter with another brand. Noise has not recurred now that I continue using other brands..
But I agree, normally you probably would not know a problem existed until some type of lack-o-lube failure occurred,,,and even then it could be difficult to blame it on a filter..

I just noticed the Motorcraft Filter is the exact same as the Purolator I've always been using, this is for my 88 7.3 Diesel. The Motorcraft Walmart filter is 2 bucks cheaper.
