Since the OP had nothing bad to say in his remarks about Harley's....or any bikes....and was just showing the motorcycling people here his nice new bike, I think it was really rude of the Harley riders to disparage his choice. It's a nice bike...period.

And since the Harley bragging continues...I would like to post some interesting facts about the brand and how they improved Harley quality. You Harley folks need to learn a few things. One interesting FACT was that the corporate people at Harley went to the Honda factory to see why the bikes were so reliable. They learned about Honda's "TQM" (Total Quality Management) program....and copied it. Yes...that's right Harley people. They had to go to a Japanese bike maker to improve the poor reliability of Harley bikes. The next step was to lobby confess to impose a temporary import tariff on all non-U.S. made motorcycles coming into the country. It WAS 4%...and Harley lobbied to raise it to 40%!! So Harley guys...looks like they could not even compete unless they got governments help!

Here is an interesting article on the subject....and by the way, Harley's are STILL far behind other makers in reliability.

^^^ Now there YOU go categorizing people. ^^^ I ride a Harley Electra Glide, my second one, but I've also owned Honda's, Yamaha's, Kawasaki's, and Suzuki's. I also congratulated the OP on his nice CB1100, and have defended Honda in this thread. I like all motorcycles, no matter the make. By the way...Harley also requested Congress to call off the motorcycle tariff early, before it was scheduled to expire.

I didn't say all...if that's the way you interpret my comments, that is your issue.

Fact is, the OP was treated poorly as typified by a certain type of motorcyclist. You and I BOTH know that this behavior is common among that group. Many non-Harley riders are treated this way on the road as well as in forums. It's really shows no class. But I did not say "all"...and if you read my posts you would know that. But I do contend it is most.

And the fact that Harley has an image to uphold...and a market to appeal to...is reflective in the often omitted history of this bike maker and the practices they employed to try and compete in the market.

Screw the HD crowd. They're nothing more than a bunch of wannabe weekend warriors. They're just a bunch of posers.

Some pretty strong words from the crowd that "wants to be waved at LOL!"

I don't know if they realize how they are only posing to themselves or others they ride with. The rest of us find them rather ridiculously humorous. Especially when they "blip" the throttle at stoplights to try to get somebody to look at them. Shallow and childish.

But...of course not all Harley folks are like this...just the majority in my view.

You must not ride much. Most H-D people around here are older and very decent people. You have the gang members, etc. that ride Harleys, but the majority of us are decent people. You sure are stereotyping. I like how Honda is doing the retro thing. H-D, Triumph, Honda, etc. as well as auto mfgs are proving that styling is timeless. Some things just don't need to change.

I'm not stereotyping anybody. If you are so concerned about that, why not correct your own fellow Harley fanatics that often post rude comments in this section when topics focus on anything other than a Harley? It was even evidenced in this thread...yet, of course, you'd rather go after me.

Why is it that basically ALL motorcyclists know nation-wide that it can be a rude awakening that if you ride a Japanese bike...and wave at a Harley rider...you have a very good chance of being snubbed? Is that out of imagination? I think not.

But yes...not all Harley folks are jerks toward others. I've known a few that were nice people. But that wasn't the point I was making. You Harley riders sure have a tough time grasping how your attitude and bike loyalty is derived from a genius marketing ploy more than it is with reality, right? You also realize how this Harley attitude is really not very friendly toward others that don't ride Harley's, right? If you are denying this because you ride in a group that isn't typical in this respect...then fine. But that doesn't make it reality.

Do I ride much anymore? Nope. Gave it up several years ago. But I rode for twenty years...off and on.

No, you didn't say the word 'all' in your post....but you did say, 'I think it was really rude of the Harley riders to disparage his choice'. Not all the Harley riders on the planet...just the ones commenting in this thread.

I've had all types of riders on all types of bikes not wave at me when I wave at them. I'm not so sensitive that it hurts my feelings.

The genius marketing ploy is UNION MADE IN THE USA. Now do you get it? American workers jobs are dependent on buying their products. Motorcycle riders are individuals, just like car, pickup drivers are individuals. Point is it's dumb to stereotype.

It has plenty of usable power throughout the rpm range, from off-idle upward. I'm not a racer, so I don't need the baddest street machine. This bike should be practical, reliable, and economical in the long run. Pretty comfortable, and it's a lot of fun to ride.

Wow, thats great, 6 speed gear box, big requirement for me, my first two bikes had 5 speeds, I was always looking for that sixth at interstate GPS of 75 MPH. I cured the issue pretty much on the vstar 1300 by putting a stryker front belt pulley on the bike, lowered the RPMs by 300 at GPS 75, 82 indicated. My 14 RK has the sixth.

Like I said on the first page of these posts, great looking bike, Im sure its a blast to ride, you got it at a great price, will have Honda reliability and the 6th speed seals the deal. I like the look of parallel twins and why I also like the look of Triumphs.

Ill stay out of the other [censored] talk in here, I dont care what brand ANY bike is, I get what works for me, right now loving my RK but I like all kinds of bikes as does everyone I know. I cant believe what this thread turned into, Ive pretty much learned to blow it off, the negative talk you read is only a few out of thousands of people.... anyway, again, good luck with it.

Get what? Union made means nothing. More Americans are probably employed at Honda motorcycles that are also U.S.A. made. You know why the Japanese makers have lots of bike plants here? Because they wanted to avoid another tariff imposed from the Harley lobbyist's. It's also good relations with the consumer that prefers American made products. Harley isn't beating the Japanese companies at hiring Americans....sorry to pop your bubble.

I'm not the one who started this negativity....but I don't mind joining in because I get sick and tired of Harley people bragging like mind-numbed drones about how only a Harley motorcycle is a worthy bike. It happens almost every single time in motorcycle threads when some guy is just proud of his bike. Why don't you go after those types? I'm merely being defensive out of a tiresome attitude that many Harley riders have.

I didn't "stereotype" any group. I told it as I have experienced it. I'm not worried about my feelings...but I also am tired of the entire Harley culture.

I am entitled to an opinion...just like the rude Harley riders who come out of the woodwork just for the sake of being rude toward a person because they didn't buy a silly Harley.

Dude. Give it up. Ride your sportster, if you have one, and smile. What do you want? Fine, a Harley sportster is the ultimate motorcycle. Nothing better out there.

Man, some of my friends have Harleys. They're just a brand of motorcycle. This is worse than the Ford/Chevy thing I swear. My roadliner was an awesome big twin cruiser. 1900cc, 113ci v twin. That was as good as I could've hoped for in a cruiser. If I wanted a Harley type of bike, I would have stuck with the liner.

Sorry Ryan....I should have just stayed out of this entire thread. I just can't stand the rude people that attack a person for not riding some particular brand.

You can certainly defend yourself and don't need me making things worse.

Enjoy your Honda...it's a beautiful ride.

Gentlemen please: Respect everyone on 2 wheels no matter what they ride. I have had Harleys, Yamahas and currently ride a Triumph Thunderbird. That Honda CB1100 is a nice bike. I would own one in a minute but can't part with my Tbird right now. (kids in College).

But lets all learn to get along and if we disagree....then agree to disagree. To me, being a motorcyclist is a large brotherhood of riders in all shapes, colors and sizes. doesn't matter what they ride.

Yeah you should have because you're clearly utterly clueless. You're talking just as much smack as the two knotheads who derail all the treads here probably are.

"Smack"? My experiences while riding for twenty plus years and the facts about how Harley-Davidson would have went under without help from the government with imposed tariffs....isn't "smack".

The one searching for "clues" isn't me.

They don't need the tariffs now. Their original intention was to be temporary until H-D could get it together. I'm sure the Japanese play fair with all American products over there LOL. That's why Ford is pulling out of Japan, because they're so fair with us. This thread is FUBARed because some numb nuts had to make it a Harley bash fest. Oh well, nothing against Japanese bikes. They make some good stuff.

I would suggest you check the gonads of one, "BigCahuna" first. He was the blowhard that couldn't keep his illusions about Harley to himself and just had to insult the OP.

All bike makers make some great bikes...that was never the question. I stand by all of my posts in this thread and really couldn't care any less about what labels are attached to me.
