I've not contradicted myself...what are you referring to? Facts are facts...Harley did impose a tariff as a measure to prevent bankruptcy during the Reagan administration. It was a five year tariff. Harley DID turn the business around before the expiration of the tariff.

If it was not for the protective tariff...Harley-Davidson would have gone under as they were extremely close to doing so. In order to survive they needed governments help...and a manufacturing model derived from Honda.

That's what I stated.

Yes, Triumph has been on a roll with its line up as well, been well received in the press.. As my last post said, Im not sure why, maybe because of being different. I like the look of the parallel twins, in the Honda discussed here and as I said the Triumphs. Problem in my state was lack of dealers, I came close one time to a Thunderbird LT. Spoke to the dealer over the phone, he even quoted me an attractive price as much as I was tempted, the dealer was 2 hours away in the Charlotte NC area, never made the trip.
... and oh man, Im counting down the months, last one in college, graduates in a couple months, yay. However, I already bought my new bike in 8/14 knowing at the time, we were getting close to the end of college this year...(and with my wife saying why not now :o) )

I appreciate any maker's bikes. Even though I don't buy a Harley, I still like to check them out when I see them parked. Same with the Guzzis. I don't hate what someone else rides, and feel the need to insult them or their choice in bike. You ride a Vespa? Cool, as long as you have fun. You don't have to ride what I ride...

Screw the HD crowd. They're nothing more than a bunch of wannabe weekend warriors. They're just a bunch of posers.

Some pretty strong words from the crowd that "wants to be waved at LOL!"

Where did I say I wanted to be waved at? I could care less if a bunch of posers on GEEZER-Glides acknowledges me or not. If they wave, I'll wave back. If not, on to the next curve.

Just go ride. Life's more fun that way.

Posing as what? Just curious. The only guys who don't wave back at me are the people on scooters. I guess they feel too humiliated LOL.

Scooters are a heck of a lot of fun....especially when on vacation.

In a way....if you think about it....anybody that rides a scooter in regular traffic has some pretty big man eggs.

No need...sometimes I can get too worked up and express myself poorly.

Were you the dude in the pirate costume that nearly lowsided trying to pace me on the Blue Ridge last summer?

I have one, and it is a smile factory. If I had to pick a fight with it, I might like a liiitle more power, but it handles so much better than any cruiser I've ever ridden, that I will forgive much. I love air cooled bikes.

I think it has enough power to be entertaining for sure. I just hope it's big enough to reasonably carry a passenger. I think it will be alright once I get some accessories. I installed a NC Street Shield EX already, have a Hepco and Becker rear rack on the way, and about to order some SW Motech engine guards. Need to figure out something to work as a passenger backrest attached to the rear rack. Seems like it's a bit of a limited market for accessories for these bikes. I really wanted one of those Comet fairings, but out of my budget.

Yes, that was me.

I love it when they talk HP
This is from Cycle World 2014

"The 103 (1690cc) twin cam engine was introduced in 2012 on softtails.
From Cycle World in 2014: 76 HP at the rear wheel"

74 to the wheel, well that will light the road on fire. LOL
