I was at Autozone today looking at the Bosch Premiums. I noticed that all the packages said they had the Filtech media. However some said they were 98% efficent and others said 99.9%.

I wonder if this was a printing error or something changed?

I see they have a DistancePlus filter that says it is 99.9% efficient.

Maybe a marketing gimmick?

Did they have the Bosch Distance Plus in the clear box? It's 99.9% efficient and has a few other good qualities. It doesn't say anything about Filtech.

Sorry, you beat me to it. The Distance Plus is expensive but it appears to be a good filter.

I think anything over 98% or 98.75% is considered absolute. The filter council suggest that anything above 98.75% efficiency is basically uncountable and academic. I think what matters most is how small of micron rating you get absolute efficiency. I'm guessing there's probably no difference in reality between the newer Bosch Premiums and the older ones.

Old PureOne filters used to say 98% on the box

Just speculating here, but perhaps with the intro of the Bosch DP @99.9%, the Premium may be going to 98%. The Bosch Prem I've seen/now carried in AAP ( where BDP is sold) don't have an efficiency rating on the box.

That said, 98% still isn't too shabby.

Well, yesterday I got GC with Bosch Premium oil filter at Autozone and the box of the filter says it is 99.9% efficient. It is not Distance Plus, it is regular Bosch Premium filter (3312).
