BOSCH premium 3312 new oil filter cut open

With the constant manufacturing changes on oil filters I figured I’d get a Bosch and see what’s new with them.

I was surprised by this one compared to the other c&p’s.

COO is china and the media seems to be synthetic with plastic cage. Not syn blend cellulose like I was expecting. I believe the claim is 99% at 20.

Center has holes and coil spring. No excess glue and the can is very thick.

Thoughts and opinions?

Looks pretty good to me. Website doesn’t give a micron rating but AI says it is 99% at 20 like you said which is nice if true. Website does mention it’s a synthetic blend. I’ve never seen these in the wild but haven’t looked for them either. Where did you find this and how much? Thanks for the C&P

They copied the Toyota bypass spring parts almost exactly, and some factory in China doesn’t know the Boss copy plastic mesh goes on the inside by the center tube. Maybe Bosch buys Mann Hummel Boss media and assembles it in China, inside out, the micron rating seems nice.

Looks great- I can see a bad comment on the threads- a nothing burger , but this is a big step-up.
Very well executed.
I'd only buy these at the retail level to avoid old stock. Thanks for the CUT!
Got some Denso action too- How much?

You mean they copied Denso :)

Looks Great . . Where did you purchase this one ?

.

The price for the Amazon 3323 Premium went up to almost 12 from I think half of that just recently for the Purolator version or Mexican one so I wonder if the price jump was for this nicer/higher quality model. If they would just put the full synthetic with backing description right on the listings then it would make it easier for people to buy it IMO. The Rock Auto 3323 was always in the $3 range fwir and is now $5.

Wondering about the backing on the outside of the media if this is a positive feature compared to typical underside backing. 🤔

A.I. can gather old information, and filters change so fast that old info can still be all over the 'net. If the efficiency isn't on the box or on the maker's website (which can still be wrong as seen with Purolator's website), then who knows where the info came from. The old Bosch Premiums were high efficiency, so it could be that's where the efficiency claim is coming from.

Think I've seen the mesh on the outside before on a different filter. It shouldn't matter as it still gives rigidity to the media.

The polymer mesh on the outside only works if it is glued well to the fluffy stuff underneath. Even then, it makes not much sense at all. But it would be easy to wrongly place it inside out. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bosch ships Purolator made Boss media to their filter factory in China.
