After that MObil1 , you can find em on amazon for 8 bucks often.

if you choose to buy from amazon , double check what filter with mobils site. amazon compatibility cannot be trusted in my exprince.

And the PureOne is on sale at Pep Boys, if you have one in your area. Buy one get one free.

I agree... no fram for me.

I've had two Cartridges collapse on me. Two different brands. I know I could stick with cartridge and go to a more premium filter, and be happy... But for 30 bucks I can have spin on (easier/cleaner) and more importantly the possibility of longer OCI. [/quote]

And increase the chance of popping a hose?

That 4.0 deserves a WIX filter and some Rotella T5 !!

I'massuming you'll be usinf a synthetic.

For a 7500 OCI or less....the PureOne is the best bang for the buck. Change out every time you change your oil

If your not adverse in using a filter for two OCI's (say 2 X 7500)....I would go withe the Fram ULTRA. It will go up to 15,000 miles....uses synthetic two-layer media with a metal screen back, and is reasonably priced at WM for $8.97. IMO....one of the best long OC filters available.

Can't do all the work for you....so go online and look up the model numbers yourself.

Troll?
to OP, whats wrong with cartridge type? You can always inspect for defects, and inspect after use without cutting anything.

yeah i was Kind of trolling.... I just dont understand why switch from cartridge to A can?
but if he want's to use a can Filter never go wrong with Wix or Pureone!

I was wondering why change from the can too but after looking at the link of the install that's a pretty clean looking, and low cost, setup. Changing cans is easier than carts.

so why not use a Mann or Mahle Filter? bmw's and Mercedes have been using them for year's with no problem's and most cheep owner's run them to atleast 15k becuase they don't want to drop the 300 oil change...

Aside from the problems I've had with Cartridge filters so far, I just cant help but tinker with my vehicle (kidding but kinda true). Honestly the other reason I want to switch to a can is to hopefully gain some life on my UOA so that maybe I can stretch my OCI even longer than 7500 miles. I feel like IMHO... using a larger, high grade spin on, will achieve this.

Just realized I have two K&N HP-3001 sitting here in the warehouse. I know some here on BITOG have had success with this filter. How does it compare with a 51515 or PL20195.

Obviously, so far, the choice here is going to be the Wix or PureOne.
