Do we know the euro series is ester based? Or is it assumed because the bottles are the same as the high performance oil?
VW is all over the place. They use Shell, castrol and Mobil1 in EU. In Russia Lukoil is their supplier.Nice spot edy, is it a sign that it’s Mobil and not Shell like all other UK engine oils?
Actually, Redline PROFESSIONAL-SERIES 5W30TD EURO MOTOR OIL isRedline 5W40 Euro is probably Mid-SAPS considering it is suitable (not approved) for MB29.51 and LL04.
Why is 0W40 better than 5W40?If he is going Castrol route, 0W40 is step up from 5W40.
It was shown on here that that oil is nothing special at all, in fact it was actually some repackaged brand available elsewhere at a much lower price.Actually, Redline PROFESSIONAL-SERIES 5W30TD EURO MOTOR OIL is
- Factory approved for API SN, BMW LL-04, Porsche C30, Mercedes Benz-Approval 229.51 and VW-Audi 507.00/504.00

There are numerous topics on this, but the bottom line: base stocks. Why is 0W40 better than 5W40?
Ravenol RUP 5W-40 had VW 502 00 and 505 01 approvals before and now comes with VW 511 00.
............
This is the latest list of VW 511 00 approved oils and I'm convinced it'll grow:

12 oils are 5W-40, three are 0W-40. Or should I say only one is 0W-40? If M1, Genuine VW and Original Audi are the same stuff?
For the OP's 4.0T I'd go for VW 511 00 and/or Porsche's equivalent C40.
After reading this topic I'm convinced both Genuine VW HIGH PERFORMANCE GENUINE ENGINE
OIL and Audi Special Performance Motorenöl are the exact same as Mobil 1 ESP X3 SAE 0W-40.
.
VW source oils from “local” blenders. They don’t have exclusive contract like BMW etc. In Russia it is LukOil.The OE Volkswagen LongLife III FE 0W-30 they sell in Europe is Shell Helix Ultra Professional AV-L 0W-30 = Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30 = Pennzoil Platinum Euro LX 0W-30 = VAPSoil 507 00 Premium 0W-30. All the same "Pure Plus" (GTL) stuff (as several VOAs and UOAs have shown). I have no idea if VW does sell this LongLife III FE anywhere outside Europe, but I remember reading about the NA ExxonMobil/VW connection.
