Is there a high mileage oil that stands out from others when it comes to seal conditioners. Have a 2011 impala will leak 1-1 1/2 quarts over 3 months. Have been using mobil 1 5w30 high mileage the past 2 oil changes, and the puddle of oil in the driveway doesn't look any smaller. Thanks

I’m using Valvoline high mileage in my 260k mile Chevy pickup. It makes 3k mile OCI’s without adding oil, still leaks a bit though. I guess I could regasket the engine or just let it roll.
You already which way I went….

Mobil 1 High Mileage already has good seal conditioners in it so chances are no other high mileage oil will fix this leak, but you may want to consider switching to something a bit cheaper like Supertech if you have to continue adding.

AT-205 is a good product that does work there is many success stories on it, but me personally after the leak is either slowed or stopped I would do an oil change to get it out of the system and run whatever high mileage oil you prefer.

I have been using SuperTech High Mileage Full Synthetic 5W-30 oil for quite a while in my 135K+ mile Odysseys. None of them leak any oil at all. I would like to think that the seal conditioners in that oil are helping, but it's hard to know for sure.

Has anyone else had a good experience where SuperTech High Mileage Full Synthetic reduced or eliminated an existing leak?

I assume that a high mileage (HM) conventional oil would leak less than a HM blend, and a HM blend less than full syn.

HM conventional probably less leaking.
HM synthetic probably more leaking.

Also a higher viscosity oil probably less leaking.

So a higher viscosity conventional oil probably least leaking.

Someone pointed out to me in another thread that a clogged PCV valve can cause or contribute to oil leaks (because it causes over pressure in crankcase). So you might want to have a mechanic test your PCV or just replace it yourself.

Conventional doesn't exist anymore, they are all a blend now.

Even the ones that say conventional are a blend now? Are there any that still say conventional? I'm getting old and dated.
Yes unless it is outdated stock you obtain, read the back of the bottle you will see API SP such as Valvoline Daily Protection, Quakerstate went to their "All Mileage" branding which is a blend as did Supertech.

Even though O'reilly's still lists it as a conventional oil on their website even theirs is API SP and you will see in their description they say it as a blend.

go look up Citgo, they still have conventional oils 10w-30 and 10w-40 & ,20w-50, if you want conventional only, their 5w-20 and 30 are a blend,,,mix in AT -205 or Wynns stop leak with the 10w-40 see what happens ,or a 15w-40 may help also. seal replacement maybe inevitable. and check if the bolts around the oil pan are tight.

I had/have a weepy RMS on my '98. I was running SuperTech 5/10w-30 HM,among others, with no results. I switched over to Castrol GTX HM 10w-40 (blend, not full synth version) for a OCI and no more drips.

I have since switched it to M1 0w-40 and continue to have no leaks. Anecdotal, but I was impressed by what it did.

I also used some Castrol GTX 10-40 in an old ,Ford truck that I hauled wood and horse stuff in. It went from a quart and half between changes at 3k to less than half a quart usage.

Havoline HM, QS Allmileage, Castrol gtx high mileage, Pennzoil HM and Valvoline Maxlife red bottle, all blends or conventional, in that order are my preferences. I'd run a 10w30 or 10w40 and not worry about the level of seal conditioners, they all have them. 2 oil changes is not going to fix the issues you need to be patient, leak didn't happen overnight. Track down the leak and see if you can fix it first.

Valvoline Maxlife 10W-40, Although i believe our version here in Europe is different to the US Version, here it's a Full Saps A3/B4 Syn-Blend, oil, have used it in a few cars and recommended it to people and most noticed an improvement in leakage and oil consumption aswell as engine noise.
