High Mileage vs. VRP

Based on the discussions here it would seem that the cleaning potential of VRP isn't just a marketing ploy. However, I cannot find any discussion about a comparison to high mileage oils and the seal conditioners that they typically contain. While most high mileage engines (100k+) could probably benefit from a slow, extended cleaning that VRP seems to provide, is it worth denying them the high mileage additive package for 4+ OCIs?

I have three cars over 100k miles (107k, 131k, and 162k miles), and while I would be willing to pay the extra few bucks for VRP to clean them out, I have also been running high mileage oils in them since 75k miles each and have not experienced any oil leaks or issues of that sort.

I am just curious if anyone has more information or more educated thoughts than my own.
Well, on older cars, I myself are far more willing to "cocktail" oils. As a heads up, with my testing on my daughters Honda Civic with seal leaks, between Mobil 1 HM and Pennzoil HM oil, Pennzoil had far more seal swelling then Mobil 1. Mobil 1 never sealed her car, Pennzoil stopped the leaks.

High mileage oils won’t “clean”. They will help make sure you don’t make anything worse.

VRP or HPL EC for 20k with OFI of 5k max, then proceed with your oil & filter of choice.

My thoughts have been that like most things with vehicles it is easier to prevent than to fix. Is running high mileage oil from 75k-on for three cars responsible for preventing oil leaks in all three? Maybe? Maybe not? None of them are leaking anywhere, though, so until they do I can't say that it has been a fruitless endeavor.
If using say a SP D1/Gen 3 or Euro rated synthetic oil changed at 5K miles (or less) would you even need a HM oil ?

@Mainia: Which Pennzoil was used to stop the leak? Do u have full label? Thanks
 
I use hm oil in 3 vehicles, they all still leak oil after years of using it
Is it better cleaning ? I don't know

Talking Pennzoil HM blend, or Platinum HM?
 
Valvoline extended protection high mileage......or the full synthetic high mileage formula ....or even the maxlife synthetic blend
