Best 20K oil

So you would run Supertech 20K mile oil for 20k vs. say M1?
Vanilla M1 is "rated" for 10,000 mile changes, M1 EP has the 20,000 mile number. So, would you run Spertech or M1 EP for the extended drain interval?
 
With all the oil tests done with Blackstone, What is the final conclusion on the best 20 K oil?
I don't think BS has a extensive database of oils on such a long drain. In fact I'd be surprised if their average OCI was over 7500 miles.

In any case I'm sure some oils could go 20k miles such as Amsoil, Mobil 1, High Performance Lubricants, etc. but aside from operating environment the limiting factors are going to be filtration and fuel dilution.
 
100% if I was goign to push 20K on oil I'm going with big-name. For 5K changes in a normal vehicle? Whatever goes. I use ST in 2 of mine.

I use M1 AFE rn, 4.90 a qt at Walmart. Good price for a good brand. I started doing 5k changes after learning more about vehicles.

If Warren says their oil can do 20k, they have 100% confidence it can. Yes, there are sooooo many variables too.... Their oil has just as many approvals as the bigger guys oils though, so what's the difference ?

The oil may hold up for 20,000 miles but only if the engine will allow it.
I would add, if perhaps only for clarification, that driving/environmental conditions also must work in one's favor.
 
If your maintenance strategy is likely to have a worse outcome than a soccer mom who does 5k mile oil changes at the Jiffy lube,
then it's a good idea to take a step back and stop yourself from hurting your car.

20k oil changes are likely to cause your engine to have significant amounts of sludge deposits,
and it could possibly start to permanently burn oil.

When in doubt, try to maintain your car better than everyone else, not worse than everyone else.

Good luck making a warranty claim with Warren if at 100k miles your engine is burning 2 quarts of oil every 1k miles.

Conceptually, I like the idea of using the OEM drain interval as a maximum since the amount of testing done (to determine that interval) greatly exceeds the tools and resources I have access to. However, I am not convinced that the longevity standards used in their testing are always in alignment with my ownership goals. Instead, I choose to use oils that are advertised to outperform the standards by the OEM; this way, I should theoretically buy myself some additional headroom.

(If I use an approved oil, I tend to reduce the OEM service interval by 25-50%.)

I think you are setting yourself up for failure. Years ago there was someone on here that did 20,000 mile OCI;s and he showed a pic of his Valvetrain at 100,000 miles and it did not look good.
 
I don't know of any manufactor that recommends 20k oil changes. It's always change at 1 year at the minimum.

OK but to check if the oil is used up the detergent/dispersant package, get a TBN done on your oil at your OCI. P.S. Blackstone is not the lab to do a TBN. Some like Polaris just calls it Base.
