BALDWIN B-34 OIL FILTER CUT OPEN

Good afternoon folks

2002 Dakota 2wd of my late fathers.

Old oil was Valvoline 10w30 conventional and this filter.

In: ROTELLA T5 10w30 and HPL Engine Cleaner 30. MOPAR M0-090 made in USA FIKTER. Almost 3,600 miles on old oil. Was pitch black and some tiny carbon bits in can.

Adam-how’s the ADBV on it? I have a few of these for the Express, wondering how long they will last. Great pics, as usual!

The Baldwin filter element, looks pretty good. Pleat spacing uniformity, decent. Looks like whatever going on with engine, filter did its job.

ADBV was super pliable and soft actually. I have two CarQuest filters to use next

Yeah, figured I’d use okdest oil up. The rotella is SM. Will keep close eye on dipstick to see how dark oil gets with the HPL Engine Cleaner 30 in there.

ADBV looks grayish in color. Could just be the flash, but possible it's silicone - would have to do a burn test to verify.

I bet it’s nirltrile as the case of these filters all had nitrile. I’ll do burn test.

I always thought the quality of Baldwin and Hastings filters was solid. I'm not so sure if the quality is the same since manufacturer Clarcor was sold in 2017. Baldwin had a helpful website and an extensive list of filter applications. I used to buy mine from www.zoro.com.

I plan to check filter after 2k to see what cleaning happened.
