B58 Supra Oil for hot/humid climate

Hello everyone.

I recently purchased a MKV Supra with the B58, and plan to keep it for decades which has me searching for the best oil for protection.

The car is in Florida, hot and humid, and will never see freezing temps. Plenty of aggressive driving, with a possible track day every couple years.

After researching on here and other forums, I decided to do my first oil change with Motul X-Cess Gen 2 5w-40.

I’m not sure if I made the right decision for long term, being high SAPS LL01 and API SN.

I’m new to all of this and would appreciate some guidance.

Any better recommendations out there?

Thank you in advance.

I was just searching for a replacement oil for my Mercedes. I have used Ravenol since I owned it, but now the price is about double of what I'm willing to pay.
I've decided on Valvoline Euro 5W-40. It meets MB 229.5 which is a very tough spec to meet, and is also an SP rated oil.

Thank you for the replies. I just contacted Motul because the bottle I have shows SN, versus SP on the website. Any others wanting to chime in are greatly appreciated.

Nothing wrong with that oil, but there is little reason to pay more than any Euro 0W-40, 5W-40 or 5W-30 at Walmart with a similar approval or ACEA Sequence. Lots of options on the shelf including Quaker State Euro for $22.97. Or Mobil 1 0W-40 or the Castrol. Or Pennzoil Euro L for $26.44 which has BMW Longlife-04 approval.

The 0W-40 is better for the humid climate (y)

Climate doesn't matter, unless you are operating in severe cold, or racing the engine at high altitudes (less cooling effectiveness the lower the atmospheric pressure). Florida's "hot and humid" climate isn't a difference-maker in oil choice. Engines are not alive, they are not dependent upon evaporation of sweat for cooling. They are machines made to run at water temps nearly 200 F and Oil temps even higher. Humidity doesn't matter at all.

I use m1 esp 5w-30 in my b58

I have a hard time making a case for any oil other than M1 0W-40 or Castrol 0W-40 (new SP) or PP Euro 5W-40. The Motul is not clearly any better or different after the latest updates. It’s still a fine choice though.

If you wanted something more exotic for psychological reasons I’d steer you to Ravenol VST or VMP.

and as always in every ''which brand oil '' topic ,the economy suggestion from mr
kschachn.
its not like everybody wants to buy the cheapest off the shelf

Quaker State Euro from Walmart. 5w40 with BMW LL01 spec. I have the same motor in my Ineos Grenadier and that’s 6000lbs that I just did a 52hr trip to Moab with. I live in Houston and I do UOAs on it. Simply can’t go wrong with it. Perfect for this motor. Same as Pennzoil Platinum Euro
