Funny, I was just thinking about this today! We have a fairly old fleet:

2006 Kia Spectra
2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
1995 Cadillac Seville

20+24+30=74. 74/3, let's call it 25 years old on average. Both the Kia and the Cadillac are sub-80k mile units, while the Jeep is well on it's way to 200k. Rust will kill our cars long before they fail mechanically.

I think cumulative age better reflects how much time we spend wrenching. Even better, sum(age * annual miles driven) over all cars. Age weighted annual miles if you will.

We have 3 vehicles totaling 43 years old but only 279k odometer miles amongst them. (Getting rid of the 320k mile truck for a 78k mile truck helped that statistic.)

Age is relative.
Purchased my wife's 3 year old Volvo a few months ago that was a lease return out of Florida that only had 14,000 miles on it.
My 2023 Silverado 2-1/2 years old has 18,000 miles on it.

No very old or ultra high miles for me when I'm two hours without a cellphone and 100 miles from the nearest town-when I travel.
