I didn't read the whole thread but the model year is counted as one, so a 2015.5 (think June of '25) would be 1 year old.

The big numbers always skew the average (aka the mean). A millionaire and a street person are quite well off on average (the pair have a net worth of at least $500,000 - on average).

For the record there are 3 indicators of central tendency:

• the mean (the average)
• the median (arrange the numbers from smallest to largest and pick the middle number, and if there is no middle number, the average of the middle two)
• the mode (the most common number)

For most purposes the best indicator is the median, the middle number, which is not often used.

My 69 AMX and 67 Impala by request.

The AMX is a factory unrestored 390 4 speed car, the color is Big Bad Green, all original except the exhaust system (I have the factory original exhaust stored in my garage) and the carburetor (it has a modern Edelbrock AVS series). This is a Go Pack car (HD cooling, stripes, Twin Grip 3.54:1, etc.). It is a ton of fun and one of my favorite full on muscle cars I have owned. It is light with a potent engine and is a lot of fun to drive.

The Impala is a real factory unrestored SS car, 327 / PG. I run 1967 Corvette 15x6 rally wheels (real deal not...

I agree.

I think our purpose is to track longevity. I would say in service date (if your the original owner) or build date if you don't know.

You can sometimes buy a new model year 6 months before the year actually arrives.
