Average Age of Bob Member's Vehicles

I think a lot of people are figuring out their car’s age wrong. As I mentioned earlier, the new model year out now is 2026 so if you have a 2016 it’s technically 10 years old not 9. Of course you really should be going by the actual production date for the true age…

I admire your reaching for accuracy and precision

If someone has a 1916 Model T and a 2024 Tesla their average age is 55 years but that does not tell you anything accurate about either one of their cars.
Agreed, median model year vs. arithmetic average would give a more accurate picture.

Alternatively, 'how old is your daily driver' would be more in keeping with the spirit of the original question.

Close enough.

In that case, I might be off by a year! But the new Volvo is a 2025.5, so, it’s only 1/2 year old…

1932 Packard 93
2002 Volvo 23
2004 Volvo 21
2025.5 Volvo 0
2005 MB 20
2005 MB 20
2016 Tundra 9

Average age 27

But… in seeking to correlate to the intent, if “average of a daily driven” vehicle, I would, of course, remove the one collector car (even though the Mercedes are both collector cars that are daily driven).

Yielding an average age of 16.

Take out those two collector cars, using just the Volvos and the Truck -

Average age of 13
Isn’t this where we have the obligatory BITOG discussion on whether we use average or median? 🤣

3 vehicles, average age is 7 years. Honestly is about where I want to be - i tend to find with my miles and living in the salt belt, I prefer to get rid of my vehicles when they hit around 13 years old or 180k - whichever comes first.
