This is a very interesting article about a gun bore cleaner called "Ed's Red Bore Cleaner," which is a home-made brew.

As I read the article and saw that ATF, kerosene and Stoddard Solvent are ingredients, I thought about our MMO/ATF experiments here at BITOG. After all, one of the major ingredients in MMO is Stoddard Solvent, I believe.

Also interesting are the author's takes on the detergency level of ATF, and he also talks about the sperm whale origins of ATF.

Dave, "Ed's Red" has been around for quite some time. I have been using it for about 2 years. Recently I came across another home brew gun cleaner named "Steve's Squeeze". Similar but enough different that I want to try it. One of the components recommended is Exxon Clearlite fuel. It is a cleaner alternative to kerosene. Does anyone have any idea where to buy this?

If someone wants to read up on "Steve's Squeeze", do a search on those words. The developer gives permission to print if the entire article is used. I didn't want to go thru all that.
