Anyone still into MLB?

Absolutely still into it. My team despite being in Virginia is the San Diego Padres. Second favorite is Milwaukee Brewers. I’ve been to three MLB games so far. My favorite park I visited was definitely PNC Park. Second Great American ballpark and the third which was meh was Citi Field. This summer going to Camden Yards for Padres @ Orioles and going to Padres @ Nationals too the same week. I’m excited for both of them as well as the Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum in Baltimore. Still have to get tickets and hotel. Nervous about visiting Baltimore but we will do it. I watch most of the games on TV if we are home. This year is my first year of streaming so it’s nice to have out of market games too.
Too bad I am retired and no longer working, AM.

My company had a block of seats reserved every year, at the College World Series. I went a couple times, then just gave the tickets to my Daughter and Granddaughter. They are more into baseball than me. Granddaughter always took her glove, in case one came into our seating area on the LH side. Came close a couple times, but no banana. A couple years ago and I could have hooked you up with a couple tickets.

Glad to see MLB in action again, now that my Calgary Flames are out of playoffs.
Being in Canada, Toronto Blue Jays are my team to root for and then several west coast teams like Mariners, Dodgers, and Giants. Have been to watch games in Seattle, LA, Anaheim, SF, Oakland, and SD so far during last 15 years whenever we are able to travel to US. Last year, we watched the Blue Jays play Mariners in Seattle and it was fun to see good amount of Jays fan base from Canada supporting them. Prices are getting less than affordable, though.

I used to follow my home team (Cleveland) but the name change and the changes in game rules to shorten the game has ruined it for me. I don't follow it at all anymore. I don't even know who played in the world series last year....

When they went on strike in the 90s I quit watching. I have been to a couple of Devil Rays games when I lived in FLA since and minor league games up here in PA but not a fan anymore. Although I do like going to the minor league games better than the majors anyway. When they went on strike back then I switched to hockey and liked it better.

....those seats in Cleveland would have been over 60$ 70+ each.(including fees)
Apparently they're still setting their prices like it's the 1990s when they were selling out every game. Last game I went to in Cleveland had an attendance of about 12K for a beautiful sunny Saturday day game.

The problem I have with the pitch clock is that it introduces an artificial constraint on the duel between batter and hitter. Time is a part of that battle.
That is an issue.. OTOH its boring to watch them posture for 10min all the time its 9-1 in the 8th inning lets have 10min at bats.
In the world series.. I dont mind watching the battle.. obv. that's hard to implement.

Cleveland has a decent ballpark. Their food prices are insane (not surprising) and they do have good value bleacher seats.. the "good" seats are pretty astronomical.

Pittsburgh has a nicer ballpark.

I just checked their prices.. they seem abit inflated at least in the early part of the year.. about 40$ for good seats.
Similar seats (although not identical because of the seating setup) in cleveland are $65-$75

Cleveland bleacher seats run about $15-$18 and you are out by the left field scoreboard. Stack that with dollar dog night.. and you can afford a family outing.
of course at that price ticketshiester fees are almost 50% (about 8-10$ per ticket)

And it could be the TV broadcasts are causing the games to drag on too long, Ever been to a game (in person) which is also being shown on Fox or ESPN? The break between each half-inning feels like it's been doubled..... Probably so they can get all their commercials in. But heaven forbid a pitcher take too long between pitches.

The umpire's ruined it for me. They want to be the stars of the show. I don't care what the strike zone is so long as its the same every pitch. And if the player mutters to themselves or less - the snowlakes throw them out.

If they fired all of them today I might go to a game.

Of course! Get the MLB.tv package every year and try to watch one or two (half of each) games a night.

Some much going on just this weekend. And we still get six months of this.

Going to Mariners/Brewers Friday.

We are Mets fans.
My wife's mother was a Manhattan born National Leaguer (that'd be the Giants).

I was a clumsy child........so all sports were a little too manly for me.
However, Tommy Hutton and Hank Greenwald doing Yankee games on the radio, got me into baseball.
Car radios were instrumental to my salvation. It's a shame they're destroying our country today.
We want to see a game in Pittsburgh.
Montreal's Olympic Stadium was so weird I almost want to see Minute Maid's ugliness. (Tampa).

Among my best experiences were when the White Sox and later, the Tigers, had AA clubs in Glens Falls, NY. Great stuff.
The selection of wursts in the original Tiger Stadium (last season), renders all other 'sports food' overpriced, stinking garbage.

My advice to baseball newbies/haters is to try playing the game. My second round of advice would be to go to a minor league game....especially on dog nights.

For me there's a huge down side to hearing about multi-million dollar athletes pulling their obliques.

to give you an idea on prices.. we were in great seats first row one section up from the field.... ie 50ft? Behind 3rd base and they were about 10$ more than bleachers at cleveland.
about 40$ all in for 2 tickets

Spring training games in Palm Beach County, Florida stadiums mostly run $60 yo $70 or so. I will wait to watch the single A teams once the minor league season kicks in.

I remember going to the Indians game in the 60s at the old stadium with only a few thousand fans...

I started watching in the late 1950s at age 10. In those days, there were Sunday double headers and the maximum ticket price was $3. Bleachers was a buck, sometimes less. There was less strategy in hitting. Batters often swung and contacted with the first pitch. Players knew how to bunt. Starting pitchers often went until they lost effectiveness. They didn't throw as hard, and there was no Tommy john surgery. There was no instant replay on TV, and it was all black and white. In my case, on a 10 inch screen. Games were usually over in 2 1/2 hours.

When the games started stretching out to four hours or more, it was easy to lose interest and go do something else that needed to be done.

The wife and I save $200 watching the game from our TV. We DVR it and cut through all the commercials and pitching changes.

We both are fans of the pitch clock and I follow the Tigers AAA and AA minor league teams on the internet scoreboards.

This year is my first year of streaming so it’s nice to have out of market games too. The main things I haven’t been a fan of is pitch clock and universal DH. One of the most fun things of the game was seeing the pitcher bat. In my opinion every player on the field should bat. That’s my only really big annoyance with the NL now.
Especially when Madison Bumgarner (Mad Bum) was hitting.

I see about one MLB game a year. The last two in Seattle visiting Junior. That's a beautiful park.
I live 15 minutes from a AAA park, and get to see hungry, quality ballplayers for a fraction of the cost of MLB. I usually go 8-12 times a year.
I get the most baseball pleasure coaching on my grandsons' little league teams. We're gearing up for the new season now.

When I do not listen to or watch Orioles games they win...when I pay attention they lose.

So its a bit hard for me lol. I was a big baseball fan in the 90s when I was young.
