Anyone owns a baby Glock?

True, my Remington 870 does tend to jam occasionally on certain types of target loads (esp. Federal), but it has never happened to me with heavier loads, and 3" magnum 00 buck shot is what I have for home defense. My buddy's Beretta Extrema2 jams even more frequently on the light target loads.

I would probably own a handgun if they were more useful here in Canada.

No, it is not pink. Blued steel.
I had to do it!!!

I just looked up the Glock 26 and I LOVE the tiny size of that thing! I carry a Remington semi auto 380 and was wanting to buy the absolute smallest semi-auto handgum with the most killing power. I think the Glock 26 is what I`m going to buy.

SHOOT one before you do!

That`s definitely what I`m going to do. Head over to a dealer and test out a few before I spend the money.

My Glock 19 is perfect for home defense. I wouldn't want to lug it around. That is what the Seecamp or Rohrbaugh are for.

IMO, Glock 26 is too big to carry and too small for home. I also have the same issue with my Springfield X9 subcompact. Don't know what to do with it.

Kahr and Keltec have 9mm also worth looking at.

Love that video "just practice with it a little bit", ambidextrous shooting(that so many forget to practice), along with hitting the 75-yard target without fancy scopes/lasers/sights...... just the Glock!

Yeah but those targets (esp the far one) could be hit with ease. Look at the size of it compaired to the TIRES stacked near it. The thing is at least 2 feet)

I'm far from a "good" shot but hitting those most of those are not that hard. Most of them are fairly large and the easy thing with the metal ones is they are tall. Hitting a target like those its not left to right (windage) that is the issue, its elevation that matters. You'll notice that the ones he missed, just bump up or down his sight and wola! He hit it.

The Keltecs have the worst trigger I've ever felt

(and I'm not really one of these trigger guys (ie nothing but a 1911) and it does affect your accuracy. Kahr are much better.

Shoots the XD here for comparison.

I learned to shoot with a bad/garbage trigger. So, I'm probably one of the few that could care less about the trigger. I think the overly hyped crybaby trigger issue is lame :-)
I don't shoot competition anymore. But, even with a bad trigger, I can still usually hit whatever I want(actually what I can see as these eyes don't focus much anymore).

Learn to drive in a Yugo manual and ALL other cars just feel better. Learn to drive in a Mercedes automatic and ALL other cars feel cheap. If I taught you to drive in the Yugo, I bet that you could drive the Mercedes, but not vice-versa. Either the Yugo or Mercedes will get you from point A to point B if you know what you're doing. And, if they both broke down, I bet that the Mercedes owner will panic and the Yugo owner knows exactly what to do.

The Glock and Springfield are definitely Mercedes compared to my lesser branded guns.

If the 1st time gun owner has a jam in a Glock in an emergency, what happens? Panic...because it never did that at the range.
I bet that an owner of a Keltec can react instantly after an FTF or stovepipe. He won't let the reliability of the Glock get to his head when he can afford to trade up.

I've got to comment....

Nice that he likes Hogue grips...

(good grief, does he get paid to say the name of the grip each time?

)

Yep, high and right with the XD.

No, the Glock model that would be the closest to the first XD would be the Glock 23. The larger size would be the 22...

I HATE how he racks the slide back and forth! What is he trying to prove?

Does this guy ever comment about unsupported chambers? (I've never seen him before...)

Bill

PS: I AM jealous of his range...

Saw this one a little late. I have a G26 that I conceal carry daily, love it. Accepts all other Glock 9mm mags which is great. I had a G23 before, slightly larger and in larger caliber....the G26 shoots just as nice, perfect for range days and personal defense.

Greg (hickok45) has commented on all these things. Regarding racking the slide, he says it's part of his "obsessive" focus on gun safety. I think he's actually trained himself to always do that to be sure the gun is clear so that it's just a habit for him.

Regarding unsupported chambers, he has commented on it. He's been reloading for decades and owns literally hundreds of Glocks in 9mm, 40, 10mm, and 45 ACP and has shot and reloaded tens of thousands of rounds in Glocks. He says he's never had a failed case in a Glock or seen a case that could not be resized and reloaded after being fired multiple times in a Glock.

THANKS for the insight on Greg. His slide racking is "obsessive" IMO.

I spent a few more minutes and watched a few of his videos. Seems like a nice guy!

The unsupported chambers are not an issue with the G21. (or any other Glock .45ACP IIRC) I've personally seen a few problems with them on other guns. I've owned most of the Glocks (19,17,27,23,22,21) at one time with tens of thousands down range with few issues.

Just ended up going with something better for me and my mission.

Take care, Bill

Okay, reading through the thread, I'll address a few points on the G26.

1. Too big for carry?--- I am 6' and 200lbs, and can easily concealed carry while wearing shorts and a t-shirt with an IWB Uncle Mike's holster. Perfect. Even better with an untucked collared shirt and jeans. PS-- I always have the +2 grip extension installed too.

2. Too small for the house? -- Having had to pull a G23 on several folks, some of them intruding in my house, I would say that ANYTHING is sufficient for the house above a .22LR. G26 is just fine, and when the family is away I occasionally drill in the house and do sweeps...it's just fine! PS-- I do keep an H&R Defender 12ga under the bed but prefer the G26 in/on the nightstand.

3. Too small for big hands? -- I have pretty large hands, and with the +2 extension the G26 feels not dissimilar to the G23 which is larger. I bought the G26 so I could shoot the cheaper 9mm at the range, but carry better than a G19 or G17...but the mags work too! How can you lose?

I would recommend any carry gun to have night sights though.

I went in to the gun store planning to get a G26 but held and ended up buying the M&P9c. The M&P just feels so much better. It also takes the full size M&p9 mags.

What is this "antique" revolver that you have? May be nicer than you think?

If you plan on conceal carry, then get the smaller gun obviously. If you never plan to conceal carry, then get the G19 or G17. And a revolver is a good home defense gun for the wife if she is not a gun person and wont take the time to train with it.

Oh, and for home defense, you really cant beat a shotgun. You can find a good 12 or 20 gauge shotgun at any pawn store in America for $150-$200.

Pardon my frank response, but recommending that he buy a less reliable gun is eccentric advice at best. Anybody with any gun can and must train for malfunctions. Personally, I'll go for whatever has a better track record. In all situations, a person wants a gun with a statistically better chance of working properly, training notwithstanding.

I have small hands, carry a Glock 26 and have no complaints.

Well. . .I just picked up a Glock 27 for personal carry / off-duty carry. My duty-carry is a Glock 23 which I was just issued this spring--I was so impressed with it's reliability, simplicity and accuracy that I decided to pick up the smaller one (also a .40 cal) for my personal weapon. I think that for the money, you'd be hard pressed to find a better bargain than the Glock.

I also bought the Pearce grip +1 extensions for the magazines--they make the grip slightly longer by adding length to the magazine and add one round to the capacity. . .I'd recommend this mod for anyone with medium to large hands.

I've carried Sigs, Berettas, S&Ws--they're all good weapons, but so far the Glock has impressed me the most. . .just my two cents.

My G26 rumbled happily in it's IWB holster at your post....oh wait that was my phone, sorry!

As a G23 and a G26 owner myself, I think you'll be very happy with both!
