For home defense, I'd recommend a revolver or shotgun, not the Glock. The G26 is not an easy gun to master.

Here's my first range session with the Glock 26:

By contrast, here's my first range session with my SIG P225 And this is two clips shot rapid fire:

I've got a Scandium 360 as well and love it.

Tempest, thanks that is what I was trying to say earlier but couldn't think of the terminology. I was dead set on a pistol until this gun shop owner had a talk with me about what you stated. That was the thing about the revolver no safety, pull the hammer then the trigger and that is it.

If it's double action, you don't even need to pull the hammer: just point and pull the trigger. The LCR doesn't even have an exposed hammer to cock. And with its wonderfully linear, non-stacking trigger pull, it's the ultimate point-n-shoot self defense handgun for anyone who is not going to spend a lot of time at the range practicing.

Take a look at the S&W M&P series. Their adjustable "small" grip seems thinner than a full size Glock.

It's just shorter the magzines from other glocks will fit in it however will extend beyond the grip..

So then it's not really going to fit a smaller hand any better than a full size.

In your application, get a revolver--forget the so called kool-ness factor of a semi auto in this situation.
I have several of both kinds, and the one I have accessable in case of emergency is the SW model 29 .357 (revolver).
I also have a CW permit, but do not carry.

OH SNAP!

possibly I was mistaken on the model num---a 28? I know it's an N frame cause I jsut fitted Pachmayr grips on it.It says SW Highway Patrolman-purchased from my buddy the retired officer in the early 80's.
He wishes he had it back.
We also have Duke, the 102 lb German Shepherd who in the politest terms, is called 'overly protective'

Ah, a fine beast helps in all home protection manners. I rely on my 90 pound (she's lost weight) bull mastiff for senses and hearing. I just wish she'd learn to alert me quietly, instead of sounding off for the entire neighborhood.

The Highway Patrolman is the Model 28. Here's a pic of mine:

If you need more than 5 shots to stop a home intruder, you should go after them with a baseball bat.

I have two S&W revolvers. The one that is loaded and ready for that stupid home intruder is my .38 5-shot Lady Smith. Fantastic little revolver.

Gonna be picking up a Glock 27 in the next week or two. . .will use for off-duty carry / motorcycle carry. Just got the Glock 23 issued at work about 6 months ago, was impressed with it and decided to get the small one for standardization purposes. It's hard to beat the Glock simplicity and reliability--they just work.

Girly guns still go bang too, though. Besides, think about the laughs you'll get when you explain that you shot at someone with a Lady Smith.

let's hope he doesn't have to explain...I'll get the pic of my 28 with the Pach grips-man is it UGLY with the balck grips-feels better though-that square butt is a PITA

96tbrid,

I too recommend a revolver as it's much less complicated in a stressful situation that you or your wife be in. If you are sure of an automatic take your wife to the store and see if she can cycle the slide. If not then you know it has to be a revolver.

May I suggest a S & W 442 or a Ruger.
