Anyone else had a Hyundai Theta II engine replacement?

I have 252k on my 2012 Sonata 2.4. I'm still waiting on the engine to blow!
I THINK the older ones didn't/don't have the same issues, at least not nearly as common if I remember correctly. Somewhere around 2014/15 they made some slight changes I believe, in both design and manufacturing. Is yours a GDI? I know mine, a 2015 model year, was a complete redesign, but other than some tweaks, the engines were pretty similar.

Not a Theta II but this problem seems to plague a lot of H/K 4 cylinders. Here's a 2024 K5 with a blown 1.6T at 90k miles. Second owner so 10/100 doesn't apply. Engine itself is $11k before labor. Car is basically a total loss at 2 years old.

Yes, it's a GDI motor. It has been an excellent vehicle for my family and father who bought it CPO with 5k miles on it. I short trip it to work 2 miles each way from my house...

Mine was replaced in June of 2020 and has been going strong since then. It appears to consume no oil. Of course, I've only put 25,000 miles on the engine in the intervening six years, but still.
