I've run both PP and Synpower (5W-20) in my V6 Accord with PureOnes and noticed a lot of noise when RPM's exceed 3K. The only other filter I run is Mobil 1 and there is no similar noise at this RPM level. Sounds very smooth. Only other variable is I've only run Mobil 1 oil (5W-20) with the Mobil 1 filter, but I don't think its the PP or Synpower. About 125K on the clock and she runs like the day I bought her. Anybody else noticed this and do you think its a problem?

Agree they are a great filter for the price, the noise just bothered me since its noticeable.

I've actually noticed the opposite. When I went from a NAPA filter to a pureone my engine got quieter on startup (i'm assuming leaky ADBV valves on NAPA), but no difference after that in noise.

I'm happy with the Pure One filters I've been using. I was running Wix before them and like the Pure One filters better.

What does the oil pressure gauge say, assuming you have one and its not a "placebo" gauge that just sits in one spot? Unless the filter lowers your high-RPM oil pressure, there's no possible way it will affect the sound of the engine. PureONE filters generally flow very well, so I'd be extremely surprised if it was lowering your pressure compared to another brand.

If in doubt, replace with the same part number from a different lot.

Stuff happens.

+1

Currently running Quaker State Horsepower Ultimate Durability and a P1 14610 in a 3.0L Accord with no noises. Seems to run smooth and quiet at all speeds. Only other filter has been dealer installed Honda A-02 and Honda oil, sounds about the same.

As GA said stuff happens, try one from a different lot.
