Just about 200k on the 17 3.6 Subaru. With the exception of the factory filter Fram Ultra 9688 has been on this engine for the nearly 200k miles on the clock. Mobil 1 5-30 with a 7500 OCI is the norm.

I've read a lot about the QC issues with Fram and some others but I haven't experienced the issues to date. There was only one filter that was very wavy during a HPL cleaner run. I posted that filter in the past. The 3.6 isn't particularly hard on oil either, so maybe that makes a difference.

in the above photo - is it more a cosmetic situation or is oil filter performance actually compromised with the poor leaf spring stamping ?
There have been a few long threads showing the gaps that can result from a bad leaf spring stamping like this. If it's really bad (pretty big gaps from a bad seal), there could be 10-15% internal oil volume leakage around the media.

Nice photos. What went in and back on? Is the filter wire backed and what was date code?

Thank You

Bought new and at 200k the only filter we have used is the Ultra. Ultra went back on for this 7k+OCI. My stash is past the "old" wire backed design. THe dual layer media has done well in this application and I'm good with $9 for this filter.

In a recent post I pictured an Ultra at 6k OCI from N22 engine in a BMW X3. That engine won't see an Ultra again. Endurance with wire backing was used in that one. I'll post it in 6k miles.
