It is usually not worth driving out of your way at least not very much unless there is a huge difference. But it is very useful to know if I need fuel anyways should I go this way or that way if it makes little difference. I have about 5 different routes to get home without much difference in miles so which way has the cheapest fuel when I need it.

Absolutely. I use it locally and for trip planning. It's good to know on trips what to expect on your chosen route, as well as knowing when prices are out of whack in some areas.

I make a lot of 170 mile (each way) trips to the beach. Gas is always cheaper along the way so I have all the Exxon & Shell stations (Top Tier) saved as my favorites.

Can be very useful but helps if you already know certain lower cost regions and use it to check before a trip.

carrolton, KY is always cheap on gas. at times i will drive 15 MI to carrolton from madison, IN just to buy gas there. last summer gas was 4.29 in madison and 3.43 in carrolton. i brought all my gas cans and drove my truck and would load up a few hundred dollars worth of fuel. some people said i was crazy to drive 25 mins for gas....but there is no way im going to pay 4.29 if i don't have too.

btw spk2000 i love driving into cincy at night. coming down the hill just past florence, ky is one of the most beautiful skyline views i've seen. truly impressive.

Thanks for reminding me about Gasbuddy. I used to have it on my iPhone and forgot about it when I switched to my Android phone but have it now.

I use the app all the time. I like to use it when traveling and am not sure of the closest (and cheapest) gas is. I also like how it gives directions too

Just whatever you do, do NOT use gaspricewatch.com

I drive across Philadelphia and the price was OUTDATED and not accurate.

Going to checkout gasbuddy.com now!
