We fuel both actively used vehicles every other week.
This will add up to about 950 miles between them.
If I see gas really cheap, I'll fill up whatever I've been using as a daily on the way home from work, though.
We usually fuel whatever my wife has been using on weekends, with me doing the gas pumping.
I like to check gasbuddy to see what prices will be in the areas we'll be passing through.
A twenty cent per gallon difference between least and most expensive is not unusual.
This would save you at least $3.60 a tank, so it seems worth it to at least check prices to find the cheapest fuel for the areas you'll be passing through.
Does anyone else bother?

RaceTrac for me.

Even if I find less expensive gas, I'm not driving out of my way to save a few pennies per gallon.

I have the app but I don't find myself using it much other than to monitor gas prices.

I always fill up at Costco when I'm at home, it's always the cheapest for premium fuel (93 octane).

Unless I'm out of state, in which case I will fill up when needed without caring much about the price.

I use Gas Buddy/Florida State Gas Prices.com every day. I like to check to see who is charging what price. I live equal distances from Race Trac and Marathon. I usually buy Marathon unless there is a substantial price difference between the two. For some unknown reason Marathon can just jump up 15 cents higher than Race Trac. The price stays there for a day or so and then comes back within 3 or 4 cents of the other stations around here. Marathon is very convenient though, right on my way home from work.

Have the app on my phone and use it regularly. Gas Buddy decides where I buy gas.

You are apparently one of those who gets it.
I drive within a half a mile or right past fourteen gas stations on my daily commute.
On a day when I know I'll need to get gas, it pays to spend five seconds deciding where to buy it.

I am in a similar boat. Gas stations everywhere that can be combined with a trip to HD or the grocery store or just going home. The routes don't involve much detour. It pays even at 16 mpg...

yep, I use gasbuddy. The prices can vary big time from station to station and I can look when I am going out anyway to see the lowest price in the area I will be.

That's the whole idea.

I have it on my phone but mainly use it as a source of info as I only use Mobil gas and there is only 2 Mobil stations in my city.

I used it today on my trip from Indianapolis to Cincinnati then to Louisville. Cheapest gas I found was in Carrollton, KY at $3.21 whereas in Indianapolis it is running $3.99. Big cost savings of over $10 for 1 tank on a 24 gallon tank if I would have topped it in Indy. Can be very useful but helps if you already know certain lower cost regions and use it to check before a trip.

You are in a similar situation as I.
I go by about the same number of stations daily as you do.
I have been buying @ a Speedway close to my house, as they had a grand reopening and have had the best prices around.
However, in checking GB on this past Wednesday, gas was 8 cents/gal cheaper that day @ a Marathon that I drive past in another city.
Thus, I stopped to fill up there. No fuss or muss and saved $1.20 on 15 gallons of gas.
Figure if I do that enough, some day it might amount to something.
