Any reason not to run 5w20?

The wifes 2013 fusion 2.5 i4 is now off warranty. Its lived its live since weve owned it on Valvoline 5w20 conventional the same as my 15 F150. It does not use any noticible amount of oil. Its mostly short tripped to work and back, so far this year its put on 3500km since January. At night its parked in an unheated garage, morning temps in winter are about -10 inside, but parked at work can see -20 to -40 for about 6 months of the year. Should I just stick with what im doing or maybe seitch it up. My stash of Valvoline conventional is almost out.

With temps like that and short tripping, I'd definitely run 0w20 instead.

Sounds like severe service to me. A good 0w20 or 0w30 at fairly modest intervals would be my suggestion.

Down to -40 I would be using a 0wxx synthetic for sure.

Every oil change yet has been around 5000km. I do it anually around christmas, our personal vehicles dont get much use since I got a work truck. My F150 os at 1800km since the new year haha

Pushing issue with conventional Valvoline. New conventional Valvoline shows pour point at -36 so definitely go Synthetic.

10W30 conventional group I PCMO was used for decades in this environment. A synthetic will pour better but at this extreme the most important aspect is to get vehicle moving and up to temp ASAP. It's amazing the battery has enough juice to start the car.

I know Whitecourt. Snowmobile capital of North America. You would thank yourself to run 0w20 Synthetic.

0W20 synthetic for that six month period. Then 5W20 should work fine the other six months.

For 2015 F150 in your winter area, I would use block heater plus a good synthetic 0Wx30. in Summer good synthetic 5Wx30 or 10Wx30. What does OM says? lol

What you're doing will continue to work, but a 0w20 will work better.

-20 to -40 for half the year??? Forget about the oil and move somewhere warm!!!
