Any hard core coffee drinkers?

1. No.

2. Correct. However, I’ve never gotten a bag that I thought was not very fresh. Im guessing they do a pretty good job of getting the beans to the store quickly. And I don’t think they sit on the shelf long.
Thanks. I might try the decaf version, alas, I don't see it in my local stores so I'll have to get it from Amazon, and who knows how old their stock is.

For me, fresh means within two weeks of roasting date. Hard to get that unless you buy it directly from a roaster.

I get 5 lbs of roasted beans at a time. Keep one in the freezer all the time. Just opened a bag yesterday, need to order another. It last about 2 months. Just ordered off eBay. It went up $3 since mid July.

It sounds like coffee prices may double by the fall / winter because of recent weather events in south america. Im not a gloom and doom prepper but I believe this will occur. Unlike lumber, coffee is something I will not go without and refuse to pay 15 bucks for a bag of coffee. Monday, I ordered about 500.00 worth of coffee and feel good that it will be enough to tide me over until prices settle. I suggest if you share my love for coffee and dont want to pay dearly for it, go stock up now.
Where do you live? LOL

I'm stocked in just about every format, always am. I have K-cups, Lavazza capsules for both EP and BLUE, Nespresso capsules, Caffitaly capsules, whole bean, ground and ESE pods. Just bought another machine to add to my collection too, a new old stock Lavazza LB910.

EDIT: I just ordered another $75 bucks worth of coffee.

You can also buy direct at what appears to be a fair price compared to Amazon, with FREE shipping starting at $39.

My Wife often buys Starbucks at a discount at TJ Maxx of all places.

When I worked in PA, there was a discount/ salvage grocery store called Wengers outside of Lewisburg. Had awesome deals on coffee, much f it was expired... but some really high end coffee. I go through so much coffee, no issue with vacuum packed expired premium coffee for me.

BTW- this store is my favorite store off all time. Truck full of food crashed and spilled on the interstate- Wengers would buy the load. Nabisco tried a new flavor of Oreo cookies in a small market- Wengers would buy the unsold... I could go on and on about this place. Many food items for sale I never saw anywhere else.

Store was staffed primarily my Mennonite women. These women worked super hard non-stop. What a work ethic.

How much is a bag of Starbucks there? I get it at HEB for $6.99.

I buy 3 or 4 bags of Gevalia at a time from Walmart on line and have it delivered to my door. Usually about $5.99 a bag. I think percolated coffee taste the best but I am lazy and use a drip machine.

Way earlier QP said, "I go through a 12 oz bag of beans a month, give or take."

That's 11g. per day. How do you brew your coffee QP?

NOTE: I use 5g. per cup but our coffee maker (a 10 c. drip) does not like dripping fewer than 5.

My costs have gone up the past 18 months as my daughter left Starbucks in July 2020 when they were offering packages for folks to leave.

I'd get one of her mark-out bags every other week or so. Either a Sumatra or Italian roast.

This week it's been the 12 cup coffee maker with folk in for Christmas. Or if I know I'll be drinking all day, I'll make a pot and half of it goes in my 1 quart Thermos to stay warm and not oxidize on the burner. The other half is consumed pretty quickly, so not much danger there.

If not the 12 cup maker, either a pour over using my tea kettle or the French Press. Can't stand K-cups, they just make brown water, not coffee.

I didn't calculate it correctly. In reality, I pull an espresso shot using 18g of fresh ground beans. I usually only have one per day.

18g x 30 = 540g = 19 oz per month.

I've been making lattes the last two years or so. I bought an espresso machine and just add milk of choice.
