Any hard core coffee drinkers?

I dropped 500$ but it was on 66lb of Green (unroasted) specialty bolivian peaberry beans (includes 62$ shipping)

I roast it and give away aprox half of it. so it lasts about 12-16month usually.

Roasted coffee doesnt age great.. and roasted and ground coffee is even worse.

I think if I wanted to stock up on roasted store bought.. I'd buy about 8 of the big bags of whole bean at costco.. but more than that.. no way.

fyi storing in freezer or fridge isnt great.
the temp change is not good for moisture.. which is bad for coffee.
I roast my own too. Get coffee better than the best coffee bars. Much more expensive than regular coffee but much cheaper than the gourmet stuff sold at 'bucks, Peet's etc. it's a fun hobby

If coffee prices are going to double I may just start dropping a couple Vivarin in my hot cocoa or I'll stick with tea. I actually don't need coffee in the morning. A 5-mile run followed by a cold shower wakes me up just fine. I have coffee only evey couple days, usually in the afternoon.

I drink coffee but I would not say I am really into coffee? :geek::coffee:

:coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee:

I grind mine each morning from whole beans roasted locally. Two small cups and I’m good for the day.

Without this ritual I’m really grumpy.
Should have given you some when you picked up the motul.

Can't understand how people can drink something that tastes so nasty and bitter. Oh sure, it's an acquired taste they say. OK.
On your list is that before or after not understanding how they sell phones for 1k when they cost $50 to make :ROFLMAO:;)

I don't buy roasted coffee much in advance because it loses flavor just sitting there, unless you freeze it, but then it takes up freezer space which I don't have much of.
this
all store bought roasted beans gets sour over time. ongoing chemical processes.
(preferring stainless cezve, mokka pot not so much nowadays)

10 years ago April 28 2011 coffee hit $2.91 on the commodities market. Yesterday July 29 2021 coffee was at $1.97. It has a way to go before it gets up to 2011 prices and we survived that! So relax, and pour another cup!

Real good for $5.99 14oz of beans.
A quality hard bean which has little chaff. Hardly any debris in the burr grinder chamber. Always uber fresh

YES YES YES, glacier water! When I'm in my private yacht I send a deckhand out to chip away my coffee machine water. I thought I was the only one using glacier water.
It makes all the difference in the world . (y) 😊 Although , that " climate change " thing might be an issue down the road ...

Something tells me you are into more then just coffee ;)
Nice set up
Thanks, I don't drink alcohol so I built an espresso bar. I'm also a collector of espresso machines, so I rotate them. Pictured is my wife's Keurig machine, which we returned to Costco because the brew was only lukewarm and my Grimac Terry ESE machine with Trucillo pods.

Parents had a few espresso machines over the years, so I assume it was good, at least the smell was fine. Never got over the taste after one sip.
My parents were of the mind to train us early to drink coffee. At first, it was mostly milk, and a little coffee mixed in. Slowly the amount of milk was reduced to allow a proper cup. And in high school, they introduced us to Turkish coffee - no sugar. Just like drinking hard liquor, there is a learning curve involved.

Exactly,
You start a newborn baby on straight milk. Every year you introduce one ounce of coffee. By their teen years they are off to school in their IROC Z28 with a 16oz coffee and a guns and roses cassette tape. Murica!

Good thing I'm heading back to the office, with free coffee...... I'm 3 cups at home 5 cups at work kind of guy, first cup is regular and the rest decafe. I'm doing it for taste not caffeine.

I'm ok with almost anything as long as it is arabica and Latin American or African beans, I am not into Java / Sumatra / etc.
