Hi everyone,
1971 Datsun 510 1.6L--175,000M( Engine in good condition)
Did an oil change 13 months/1,500 miles ago. Don't drive the vehicle much.
Amsoil Ea oil filter.
Mobil 1 10w40 High Mileage oil
Live in SoCal
Do you think I can go longer or is it time for an oil change(due to the time factor?)
Thank you for your opinions,
Henry

When you drive the car do you get it up to temperature, or is it only driven short trips? If short trips go ahead and change it now. If it gets up to temperature perhaps on a good highway run then you should be able to hold out to 1.5-2 years.

keep doing what your doing. Once a year with full synthetic and a fresh filter should be fine.

Hey thats a cool old car. I have spoken with mobil on their HM full synthetic which will go 9-10k if highway driven. I would say its either or on to change but its gonna be nice this weekend and oil is always cheaper than engines so turn on radio and change it.

I'm no expert but looking at the dipstick the oil looks pretty decent. Not very dark& fairly clean.
Best,
Henry

Very cool. I used to have a 72 Datsun 510 - 2 door. Paid about 300 bucks for it and drove it for several years, partly in delivery business in Minnesota. Drove it from St. Paul to Southern Ca. several times. Fun little car to drive, easy to work on, and very good MPG.

To answer your question - I would do a yearly oil change. No facts to base that on, just purely my opinion.
