It's that time again to make a bulk order and replenish the stash with a good amount of Amsoil rewards. I was looking at Amsoil European EFM 5w40. I'm interested on how safe is it for my vehicles considering it's API SN as far as LSPI events. There has been a couple VOA & UOA showing traditional 2-3k ppm of calcium. I'd like to consolidate into one oil for the household. 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3L L84 & 2021 Subaru Outback 2.5L DB25DI. Both vehicles are Direct Injection with NO turbos. My particular reasoning for this oil is the excellent bang for the buck as far as HTHS 4.0 , TBN 10, 8.1% NOAK and priced around same cost as High Mileage line. No I'm not interested in trying other brands or oils. Personally I think I'm fine for being non turbo application however I'm not a LSPI expert by any means.
Vehicles experience MN weather and 50-60% highway miles. Subaru is a fuel diluting monster running Amsoil XL 5w-30 10k miles per year driven. The Sierra loves 40 weight to quiet down the engine currently Amsoil Signature 0w-40 12-15k miles driven a year. Trying to aim for 1-2 oil changes a year per vehicle depending on oil samples. I know the Subaru will most likely need 2 a year due to fuel. Anyways I really enjoy Amsoil but I'm no longer interested in extreme OCI or flagship prices. So I'd like to try this middle of road product they offer given if the LSPI concerns work out.
