Amsoil TSO 0w-30 does meet the SM spec. The PDS hasn't been updated to reflect this.

They are also making a long drain 5w-20 that will be available in 6-8 months.

I called tech service today to get this info.

I don't know, but it meets the spec. according to the P/Zn amounts. As I said the PDS hasn't been updated.

I wonder if it actually is a SM oil or 'meats SM specs' as is often the case with Amsoil. We know it's good stuff but does it actually follow the letter of the law?

To my knowledge Amsoil has no intention of towing the API line with TSO (Series 2000 0W-30). But yes the oil meets the SL and SM performance tests (and the SM P qty....I guess) - did he say when the website would be updated, because this is contrary to what he told me a little while back?

The oil clearly meets the P/Zn specs based on numerous UOA's. Not sure what else SM requires but I'm sure it meets those requirements as well.

buster,

A long drain, did they give specifics for long drain?
Miles or time frame?

There are UOAs of the Amsoil 5W-20 that were run between 7k to 9k miles,
just wondered what a mileage long drain and/or time frame they were referring to.
