Just did a search for Amsoil PI on this forum and got 500 hits. None of the first 3 pages of hits had anything to do with Amsoil PI, so I gave up and decided to post a new thread. What is the expericence on the performance improver?
The Amsoil newsletter makes sound like a miracle worker on the engine and injectors. Hype or fact?

You are referring to the new reformulated PI that just came out? The old formulation has been around for a long time.

I don’t think many people have had a chance to use it yet. I will be trying it the future.

I used the old formulation for about 11 + years. It seemed OK……………….but nothing special. I think the new formulation is supposed to be up to snuff with the better products on the market. We will see.

I was curious about this too. I to would be referring to new as well as old. The other posts I've seen on Fuel injector cleaners has mainly mentioned Redline and Techron. How does it compare?

The old PI was better at preventing deposits instead of fully cleaning up combustion chambers, valves, etc. The newer PI is designed to heavily clean off deposits from the start and is recommended to use every 4,000 miles (similar to Techron).

I'm waiting for Terry to chime in and make some mentions on how it compares to Techron and FP60/FP3000.

Old Amsoil PI was weak like Redline FI cleaner. Both are OK at preventing deposits as noted, but neither are great at cleaning old gumbo. (I mean what fuel tank added cleaner is?)

Well - the NEW PI is kick-A so far. I posted in a thread about the NEW PI MSDS - which shows it is a much more concentrated set of cleaning amines. I have 4 customers who have gone full dosage+ and all were quite amazed at the difference. Not enough time for MPG numbers yet.

Redline SI-1 cleaner is weak? Pablo, were you sniffin the old Amsoil PI?

Redline has 30-50% PEA
new Amsoil PI 27.7-36.9% PEA

The "hydrocarbon solvent" could just be kerosene, right? Seems Redline has more of the good stuff.

dunno.gif

I've never noticed a difference with *ANY* cleaning product. UCLs make more difference for me.

Ah, but you forgot the PAA and the fact that Redline does not account for a large percentage of the formula. Amsoil at least accounts for 100%. Only the formulators know the true % used.

Never had Redline SI-1 do much of anything for my cars in the old days. Most anecdotal input I get outside of BITOG web and person to person is that Redline doesn't do much in the tank. Just my opinion. I was never high on the old Amsoil PI.

I have seen it do wonders over the years. Carburated stuff loves that stuff. Injected cars also have done well. Had one in school that on a five-gas needed an injector cleaning. I had them run Redline SL-1 and the 4 days later it was very clean on a five-gas. In fact then conducting the fuel injector cleaning only lowered HC by 1 ppm. It had already dropped from 200 to 14 ppm. So from lawnmowers and crotch rockets that could barely run to 86 Olds to modern fuel-injected engines I have seen it work and WELL!!!

I now have PI to keep my car clean as the Redline is getting hard to find. Could have ordered the Redline too I know but hey I just had to have an EaO filter.

I used the previous formula in my lawn and garden equipment, Honda 4-wheeler, and all our vehicles. I am a firm believer in this product because it worked for me. I ordered some of the new formula this morning. What sold me on the previous formula was I had a drive to work, '97 V6 Grand Am, that I was told needed new injectors. I tried several injector cleaners and as a last resort, tried the Amsoil PI. I can tell you, that within one tank of fuel, that engine ran like a totally different one. More power, smoother idle, and better milage. That was several years ago, and I have used this product from then on, mostly now as a preventative measure.

Does anyone know if the new Redline SI-1 label bottle is reformulated? All I've seen are the old label bottles.

I just emailed Redline about SI-1, here is what the email said

Mike,

Thank you for contacting Red Line Oil, the label has been changed on the SI-1 but still the same proven formula.

I am unsure why the Advance and AutoZone stores currently don't carry the SI-1, I believe just a decision based on sales volumes.

You can always order from one of our mail order dealers or direct and we can send product to you.

Regards, Dave

I am a fan of redline. To me it made a big differance in running. Just looking at my throttle body before it was dirty/stained. After running a with treatment dose then maint dose, my tb inlets were so clean they were beyond shiny. Just my opnion. Did alot for me.
