You won't find sludge in a Honda using conventional oil using OEM drain intervals.

Followed the OLM (it is the simple light goes off mode. No percentage display) for the most part.

At times if my Dad was getting ready for a trip and it had been some time since the oil change (like more than 6-7k) we would go ahead and change the oil.

So far in a little over 80k on the engine the shortest OCI has been 4,800 miles in 5-6 months to 8100 miles in about 4 months.

They drive it short trips a lot with highway miles here and there when on a trip. (They drive up to MT to visit my Sister)

Typical retired folks use. Also with 250hp it sees quite a few blasts up to highways speeds.

I was gonna say, way back, I remember MolaKule saying something about the ZDDP forming a golden layer on metal, and then I read this.
 
I've noticed the same yellowish/brown tint. Not concerned about it but it wasn't there until I started using Amsoil 0W20 and extending the intervals past 7500 miles.
