Well, I can’t help you overcome your fears.

But the statistics simply don’t support them.

Most recent comparison I can find - gasoline is 60 times more likely to catch on fire than EV.

There are over 100,000 vehicle fires each year. They’re nearly all gasoline.

100,000 gasoline fires happen every year, in garages, spontaneously on the road, and as a result of collision, and rarely make big news, because gasoline fires are everyday occurrences.

But EV fires sell clickbait (masquerading as journalism), fuel conspiracy and support agendas.

Don’t fall for those things.

But in fairness, it needs to be noted that this is worldwide, not jus the USA. Also, most of the fatalities occurred with a Tesla was in an accident, and then burst into flames. Many fatalities occurred when a Tesla hits a tree and bursts into flames. The data makes no indication of if the fatality was a result of the fire or the accident. People die all the time when they crash into a tree, ICE car of EV.

They were on, but it was 117 degrees yesterday, can’t feel cooled seats at that temp. My friend even started the A/C on Max Cool 10-15 minutes in the app before we left. Absolutely terrible A/C.

We have several years left on the Wrangler’s extended warranty and it’s running great. In any case we need a true 4x4 in the garage. A G Wagen would be a hoot but a bit too expensive.
Likewise, I have another year of the CPO warranty on the C43; it’s been totally problem free for 57,000 miles and I still enjoy driving it. If I had to replace it I guess I’d go with a CPO CLE 53 or E53. There’s not an equivalent sport sedan out there I like- for under $100,000 at any rate.
The Club Sport? After 31 years of ownership I guess you could say that I’m reasonably satisfied with it…

I have seen numbers of anywhere from 20X to 80X, but I think those numbers are disingenuous. The typical ICE fire is 10+ year old car. This likely speaks to maintenance or lack thereof, likely starting with engine oil fire or similar.

Not many 10+ YO EV's on the road?

EV fires are rare in general, but do happen as well. Are they more likely as they get old? No idea.

Again I don't think any vehicle fire is all that likely, but comparing a huge, ancient fleet of ICE vehicles with mostly new EV's isn't probably all that relevant. You would need to maybe compare 5 YO ICE vs 5 YO EV, for example.

Since this is an opinion piece I'll add mine. I'm more of a Rivian or Lucid type.

Somebody here said it and stuck in my head. I like the Grey Rivian vans that bring offerings to the porch gods. They have cool lighting.
