Amazon deliveries too early. Can time be changed?

When a stuck car is blocking your only acces in or out of your property you do what you gotta do to not miss work or school.

The jeep can easily pull a small car out of a ditch . Has enough torque to just idle and pull most out.
Then start an LLC and charge them lol

When I used to have Prime they'd give me a dollar credit if I let them deliver on their terms. Every single time that meant they'd wait ten or so days then deliver on Sunday via USPS. I didn't want my postman working Sundays and felt so dirty doing this.

Obviously their use of the mail was a stopgap until they got their own rag-tag crew going.

Is there a business in town you drive by that has Amazon Drop-boxes, or whatever you call them?

That time of the AM could be hazardous for the delivery driver. I would not want that task. I am a Prime member and I do not recall any time of the day options. I will look closer on my next order.

A 3 year old? You old hound dog. ;)

We have Prime and you can give all kinds of delivery instructions but not time.
She belongs to my "Little cousin" I call her. Wife's 19 yr old 2nd cousin. The one I made learn stick shift @13…

Currantly waiting on a transmission mount for the trooper to get here. Earlier she took the jeep( same stick shift she learned on) and the 3 yr old to the farmers market.

Amazon does (or did, at least) provide a field for delivery instructions for the drivers.

They are saved, and apply to the address as a whole, not to a particular order.

Whether they are heeded is another matter, but it does provide the means to inform the driver of any special conditions pertaining to the delivery address, even if they can't or won't alter their route schedules.

Here are some things that would be extremely helpful in my experience that would prepare me to make your delivery.

"I don't have a driveway, here is how you can access my property."

"My dog is almost always outside, unleashed and unfenced, watch out!"

"My driveway is 2 miles long, and I didn't leave any room for you to turn around."

I use the Lockers fairly regularly, but keep in mind they're constrained in terms of package size and availability. The relevant options will show during checkout

Normally I have an option of time for delivery. I suppose that may be withdrawn once the delivery is late.
I'd place a box at an easy access point at your property. Tell them to leave it in there, which you can do on delivery instructions or make a sign. If you're worried you can also add a padlock and request they lock it upon delivery.
Time of delivery is only for same day or overnight delivery.

Alignments of shipments to a specific day is usually available, as well as a singular delivery day for all purchases.

Not everything is eligible for that “today” shipping where a time is selected. That said, IME those are the only orders that get delivered overnight.

Agree on the lock box. I know in the app you can give delivery info, and can even tell them garage codes and whatnot to allow delivery out of sight. It would seem like a lock box at the primary road might be an appreciated gesture. Though I suspect the whole box might be stolen…

You can select a time, that's about it. I installed a " parcel box" where the driveway meets the road. Placarded it Amazon / UPS/ USPS/ Fed-Ex placards and my address spray painted on it. At the end of the day, I collect the packages. Nobody comes up the driveway leaking oil all over the place anymore :).....It's easier on the driver's too. They don't have to worry about turn arounds. Just pull off the side of the road a bit, and dump the stuff in the parcel box.

I can't do that unfortunately. The only place to turn around is my house. Even if I put a box down on the road they still have to come all the way to my house to turn around

And contents being delivered. I ordered a box of permanent markers and the checkout process informed me that due to the materials in the order, locker delivery was not an option.

And yet they have no issues with products containing Li cells. The UN3481 label apparently mitigates all risk!

You should be able to set up a time frame you’d like deliveries to occur. It might take an extra day if that matters though.

Ever since since our last GSD treed the Amazon guy on top of the car, we’ve had them setup to deliver while we aren’t home on weekdays unless whatever we need is urgent.

I believe there are many items that can be considered for "overnight" (4 AM to 8 AM) for free, rather than 1 day. Doesn't seem I have that option as I type as it's 5:40 AM EDT, but I expect this option to appear later this afternoon/evening. I avoid it not for your reasons, but knowing in the past, it's dark and the driver often misdelivers. I have a nasty neighbor who will leave a note amazon delivered to me and this isn't the first time. I've asked them to pickup the package (think about the logic here--don't worry we had a letter from the CU misdelivered and a neighbor across town took the time to bring it over on a Sunday, all is not lost).

Most people that spend there life 9 to 5 would be amazed at how many people are out on their way to work at 3AM. Manufacturing and Healthcare mostly. Amazon packages show up here at all times of the day or night.

He might have wanted the time and a half. Its usually someone else delivering only packages not normal mail and usually not your daily carrier. I read a long thread about working for the post office on reddit, and the biggest complaint was when starting out they expected you to be always available but didn't get enough hours to pay the rent. Never feel guilty giving someone a job.

She actually ordered this thing 4 days ago. Was supposed to be here last thursday.
So Amazon was trying to make up for the delay/lateness by getting it to you as soon as they could.
I never have an option for delivery time.
Depends on the item, where it's available (how close to you), Prime membership, and so on.

I don't think they care about instructions, at least depending on what it's about. If the driver is working 4am to 8am and your instruction says no deliveries until after 10am, they will ignore it 'cause they get dinged for skipping a delivery. I do know for my account (our personal account), I order stuff for work and for our work address they know it's a business. With that, we can put in business hours and 90% of the time they follow those for deliveries. If I order something that will deliver at home on a weekend but I change the address to my work, it changes the next delivery to Monday.

I will be the contrarian and say the following:
  • It is not the Amazon drivers fault you have a dog that wakes up and barks.
  • It is not the Amazon drivers fault you have a 3 year old who wakes up from the dog barking and starts screaming until 6:30 am
  • It is not the Amazon drivers fault you cannot lock your gate and have delivery on the curb roadside.
  • It is not the Amazon drivers fault there is no place to turn around should they commit coming up your driveway.
Like others mentioned, unless you can put notes into your account about your special limits and they are actually adhered to, not much you can do other than just suck it up or stop ordering from Amazon.

Unless I missed it, you can also designate another address like a relative or friends house that can take your deliveries in lieu of you getting them and you pickup from them at your leisure.

Part of Amazon’s delivery routing is maximizing combining deliveries into one area as much as possible at the same time. You just might be in an area that makes normal delivery an early one and they may not be able to accommodate later delivery windows unless specified at time of ordering.

I agree that most of them probably don't, and can't dictate their timing, but the link I posted showed that at least one driver posted about what they would find helpful in that field, and provided an example matching the OP's situation.

Flex drivers have more freedom, and surprisingly, tend to make the deliveries to fixed time/place locations like the lockers and Whole Foods locations that lend themselves to more rigid schedules.

Agreed. I’ve tried to alter a delivery or gave instructions that were ignored. At the end of the day we should feel lucky we can buy these things often which are discretionary items. The driver is trying to do a job.
