Alternator brands

Too many failed Denso reman (for LandCruisers) reports on MUD. The old brand recognition alone is not enough. I had very good results with local shops.
Similar story with Denso branded radiators for Cruisers.

Thanks for the input everyone. Good to hear about the Denso reman procedure, never would've thought it was a bit sketchy.

It's at a shop now to confirm that's the issue and to check for other damage...will likely have him replace it, since it's not a fun job. That being said, as stated above, should let him pick in case it goes bad again. I'd consider a junkyard one, but no one lists the miles and I'm assuming the warranty is about nil. They all seem to fail at 130-150k anyway, like clockwork.

I would definitely get the Remy if buying from Rockauto. I got the advance auto new alternator not the remanufactured and it was a brand new Remy for my Buick. It's lasted over two tests now

I'm not even gonna bother with Google. I don't need to know that badly. It's probably some kind of kit car without a manufacturer's name. Probably has a lame fiberglass body too. Strange that it's the only car in his signature without a manufacturer's name.

No problem if you can get quality parts and the armature and field test good and the commutator isn't worn out or damaged. It would be prudent to inspect everything first before placing an order for parts.

AZ has the Duralast Gold...last I checked, that was basically a new alternator in an old housing. All they reuse are the housing, pulley. and fan.

Then again...I am at the point where I trust 20+ year old factory bearings more than new Chinesium.

I have to agree. Many people are using acronyms today. It is all fine and dandy, but when you have interests in many different topics in many forums it becomes annoying to have to figure out what the acronym is for. It would courteous to at least one place in the post indicate what the acronym means.

BTW, I looked up the LR3... it is a Land Rover.
