My '00 Civic EX (~125k) and '03 Saab 9-5 Aero (~45k) had been on a regimen of Techron Concentrate every 5k or so. I'd followed that routine with my old Saturn, which ran great with no fuel issues until I got rid of it at 185k.
Just for s's and giggles I decided to try out fuel power, see how it works. I ordered 2 gallons a bit over a month ago. Each car gets ~18k/year, so I should have a year's supply for both of 'em. The cost works out similar to what a year's supply of Techron would run.
The Civic had gotten a bottle of Techron just before the fuel power arrived, so it went right to the 1 oz/5 gal dose. The Saab had gone 2,500 miles since the last Techron treatment, so I gave it the 2 oz/5 gal dose initially, then went down to 1 oz/5 gal. I just keep the stuff at the house, and either throw it in prior to a 1/4 mile trip to the gas station to fill up, or I put it in after the fill up. I use the dispensing bottle they supplied and a long skinny funnel. It's a bit of a PITA, but not too bad. An improvment would be if they had a Sta-bil style bottle with a long filler neck and refillable resevior.
I do not keep a detailed record of the mileage for either car. The Saab has a computer that tells you the running average.
I haven't noticed anything different with the Civic. It runs like it used to, can't say if the mileage has changed.
There has been a noticeable improvement with the Saab. Previously, when driving around and applying the gas from idle, there was a noticeable stumble. The response was smooth from one throttle position to another, but if you were stepping on the gas after coasting, there was a shuddering from the engine. Now with the FP, that seems to be gone. I can't be 100% sure the FP is what stopped it, but that's the only change that's been made. The mileage may have gone up by ~ 1 mpg as well, the computer seems to be floating around between 27-28 mpg. Previously it had been in the 26-27 range. Again, can't necessarily attribute this to the FP.
So there you have it. Make of it what you will!
