I just ran into AAP to grab a Carquest Premium air filter and noticed hardly any Purolator filters on the shelf. Online shows 50% off clearance. I asked the counter guy what’s going on and he says they are dropping Purolator completely. Also the Fram Force is going away.

And i also noticed they now have a Carquest EP filter. It seems they dropped Purloator and in favor for their own EP filter but based on how M+H have fared with poor build quality I would grab a Carquest any day of the week.

50% discount only appears to be on the Fram Force and PurolatorOne filters. "Higher end" ones are still full price.

Curious how it compares to the Premium. There is a $7 cost delta between Premium and EP, so it'd have to be substantially better for me to regularly spend the money.

(if someone wants to cut 'em open and compare, perhaps I can send to you)

Sounds like you won't be running oil filters in the near future.
?

There are still countless numbers of reputable oil filter manufactures - Premium Guard and there variants, Hengst, Denso, Donaldson, Hastings. I would say the way things are going - with M1 going Premium Guard and now major auto retailers giving shelf space to a lot of of other brands - including Walmart stocking more OEM stuff, we will have much better choices than we have had for a long time.

I wouldn´t buy a Purolator even on clearance.

CarQuest Premium for the win! Right now they have 15% off if you spend $35 and if you have Rakuten, another 3% cash back. So about $7.74 for each filter for 99+% efficiency at 20 microns. Love it!

Top of the mark right here. If it was OCID or Puro filth I’d buy OCOD

Cheers, thx for saving me some cash. :ROFLMAO: Looks like a good filter, but will stick with Premium!
