With all the rebates available, why wouldn't anyone use syn? And most manufacturers are now recommending full or partial synthetics...

I'd just use Mobil 1, but if you use Amsoil, I think there are dealers here that can do better than $300 annually...

How did you choose Amsoil to begin with? Why did you choose it? You probably felt it offered you the best protection for your cars. EVERY time I left Amsoil to save money, I ended up regretting it. I started using Amsoil 35 years ago left them 4 times but always came back. I never left their ATF or Gear oils.

I am still going to use AMSOIL for gear oil (diffs & transfer case), ATF (transmission and Power steering), brake fluid, anti-freeze & greases.
I have changed these already so I am good for another 5 years. Just the engine oil switch bothered me. Hence the post here.

I agree with the other posts saying to use the Amsoil for 1 year. Makes it more feasible, and that is what it is made for - long OCIs. Sounds like you are at 15k per year, which the Signature Series can do, even in Severe service.
And the Amsoil filter is one of the best made. 15k or 25k, depending on the model.
So, one oil change, one filter per year.

But if you go with M1, it is also a good choice for your 6mo OCI.

I'm surprised nobody brought up Mobil 1 AP. Change it once a year and you are done.

Welcome to the forum!
I too live in Chicagoland. Since neither of your vehicles are Turbo, I would use the Amsoil Oil and Filter, and change the oil every yr or so. The Signature Series Oil is good up to 25k miles, and the Amsoil Filter is good for 1 yr. Then get a UOA done to see how well it held up. If you look at my Signature and some of my posts you'll see that I'm running an Amsoil Dual Bypass unit. I currently have 68k miles on my oil. This is made possible by makeup oil when changing full flow filters every 25k miles, and Bypass filters every 60-70k miles plus some top off oil added. Good Luck to you.

Bulk TCMO in 5W-30 is what that year called for. Mobil Super 5000 in a Toyota labeled bottle in other words.
