5w-40 mixed fleet recommendations

On that note this latest version of Castrol Edge 0W30 is the ONLY oil that I had in the sump in BMW that doesn’t have measurable consumption. Usually I had to add 0.25qt around 2k. I am at 3,300mls and no consumption. No matter what oil, and I had Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5w40, Mobil1 0W40, Motul X-Cess 5W40 GEN3, Motul 300 V 5W40, previous versions of Castrol 0W30 and 0W40, BMW TPT 5W30.

That's an interesting update. I wonder why. I remember you've said your BMW burns about 1/2 quart no matter what oil or how much track time...

I'm also curious, do you recommend the Castrol Euro Edge 0W-30 over the 0W-40 because the additional HTHS in the 40 grade is unnecessary? The 0W-40 is still an otherwise better than average oil?

Nope. More oil in the sump, less possibility to starve it during cornering.
