I guess I'm going to give beets a break for a while. No more purple poop.
This was with an organic carrot, a green banana, some avocado, young coconut meat and juice, flax seed, ginger, lemon juice, and water.
Sometimes I add a few pieces of mango to sweeten it more, or half an apple.
I have a 1 pint+ smoothie every day with at least 1 carrot.
That's a 1 pint glass.

Why don't you chew your food?

Besides the banana, those are all enjoyable foods to eat. I will never understand the smoothie thing. I prefer mastication.

If you want to include a lot of different nutrients and avoid eating any number of different things in small quantities, a smoothie is a good option. You can also incorporate things that do not taste so great into a smoothie and make a more palatable mix. For example, most people do not like chewing raw ginger, turmeric, kale, bitter melon, etc. There's also the good-to-go factor. I can put a smoothie in a thermos and take it conveniently with me on a run, a hike, etc. Since I'm a runner I like using chia-based smoothies and blended drinks that allow me to remain hydrated longer without having to carry water.

Because my teeth aren't in the greatest condition and I'm almost 71.
Due to mercury toxicity I once had, and / or other factors, I ground my teeth at night in bed for many years which wore them down a lot, and I wasn't recommended to wear a night guard until decades of wear had occurred.
Right now I have crowns on my upper teeth beating down on uncrowned lower teeth, and it's very expensive to fix.
My dentist, this week, suggested I get a lower partial. He wanted to build up the lower front teeth because of the wear, or crown them at about $1000 each. I have insurance that now pays for about $2000 of dental work per year.
I'm actually leaning more to blended foods in order to reduce the wear until I can get more of my teeth crowned.
It costs money to eat foods like raw carrots, but not if they're blended well.
I do plan to get the partial, but not empty my bank account there. I will let my insurance pay for $2000 a year in dental work.
Some people might be good candidates for dentures, but how many dentists are willing to forego the profit loss they'd get if that patient went with dentures instead of having multiple teeth filled, crowned, cleaned 2x a year, etc.?

Another good thing about smoothies is you can blend foods to get a certain flavor.
You can add nuts, seeds, herbs, and it all blends up well.
Other reasons are, it tastes good and it's a healthy habit.

Raw carrots aren't the easiest foods in the world to digest.
Some people even say you absorb more beta carotene from cooked carrots, plus the fact that cooked foods are known to be easier to digest.
A raw carrot in a smoothie is easy to digest as opposed to eating a raw carrot.

I soak nuts in salty water overnight. It makes them much easier to digest as well as chew.
Or, I can say to heck with building my teeth up and keep my money in the bank where it earns 15¢ a month interest.

Oh yeah, the dentists want you to chew your food and spend thousands there in the process.
I can still "chew my food" after it's been blended, with much less wear on my teeth.
Chewing your food is good business for your dentist to help support their extravagant lifestyle, that's nothing at all like my lifestyle.
My new dentist owns his own airplane. Is it any wonder a crown the size of a kernel of corn costs $1100 each?
I'm supposed to cough up thousands of dollars for crowns when his annual income is probably equal to what I made my whole life, or made for decades. I hate to pay into this. I don't believe anyone anywhere should have to pay that much for dental work. 50 years ago a working man could afford dental work but dental prices have steadily increased while the blue collar rate of pay have stagnated. I can't bring myself to empty my savings account to help support a dentist with his own airplane. Even if I have to eat blended foods.
And would you believe, the foods I eat give me nutrition that's probably better than most people's?

Teeth - if you don't use them you lose them. A smoothie a day is not a bad thing. I would however not want to eat only soft foods because there will be less saliva which leads to less predigestion, less "rinsing" of the mouth and teeth, and because gums and jawbone can and will atrophy due to the lack of stimulation. My grandpa fell off a ladder and died in his 90s with a full mouth of his natural teeth. He loved chewing on hard crunchy bacon, nuts, apples, you name it.

It sounds like you and your dentist need to come to terms, or you need to find a new one.

It is super easy to believe the foods you throw in the blender and drink are healthier than most folks...as most folks eat garbage.

I like to chew my food, and I drink about 2 gallons of water per day. I don't understand wanting to drink my solids, as I enjoy eating.

To each his own but I don't believe this. If you have supporting evidence you'd like to share here, go for it.
I've seen tons of info supporting the blending of whole foods, and I do believe good oral health can be had without chomping down on hard to chew foods. That's what they make toothbrushes for.

Flossing is actually way more important than brushing. I don't listen to dental hygiene advice given by people with admittedly bad teeth. The scientific evidence for what I have stated is overwhelming if you care to research the matter without your bias filters. I won't convincing any kind of believer. 🦷

I floss daily, plus I have a high pressure attachment to my bathroom sink that I rinse my teeth with after every meal.
I brush with a hand brush and a battery powered brush every day.
I get dental cleanings 2x a year and I have no cavities and the hygienist always tells me I clean my teeth better than most people.

My teeth aren't "bad". My teeth are worn from grinding them decades ago through no fault of my own.
I once had up to 18 mercury fillings in my teeth, starting from when I was a kid up to age 35. Then I got them all replaced with non metal fillings. These days dentists almost never use mercury in fillings. I had to be one of the unfortunate ones that got a mouthful of mercury.

I remember when toothbrushes had those rubber spike thingies on the end at the base of the handle. You were supposed to use that to massage your gums.
GUM.webp

My gf always gets smoothies from Smoothie King. I prefer the strawberry banana smoothies from the food court at the mall 😋

I wonder if teeth health has alot to do with genetics? My gf was born with perfectly straight symmetrical teeth. Me, my bro, and sis all had to have braces.

I'm one of those who carries a toothbrush and floss with me everywhere I go (y)

I'm sure it does have to do with genes. My mom had crowded lower teeth just like I have. My dad never had a cavity in his life.

So, I made a smoothie this morning with some homemade refried beans, kale, Brussels sprouts, carrots, red pepper flakes, and I some lettuce. Pretty good actually; kind of like a “real v-8”
