Why don't you chew your food?
Besides the banana, those are all enjoyable foods to eat. I will never understand the smoothie thing. I prefer mastication.
Because my teeth aren't in the greatest condition and I'm almost 71.
Due to mercury toxicity I once had, and / or other factors, I ground my teeth at night in bed for many years which wore them down a lot, and I wasn't recommended to wear a night guard until decades of wear had occurred.
Right now I have crowns on my upper teeth beating down on uncrowned lower teeth, and it's very expensive to fix.
My dentist, this week, suggested I get a lower partial. He wanted to build up the lower front teeth because of the wear, or crown them at about $1000 each. I have insurance that now pays for about $2000 of dental work per year.
I'm actually leaning more to blended foods in order to reduce the wear until I can get more of my teeth crowned.
It costs money to eat foods like raw carrots, but not if they're blended well.
I do plan to get the partial, but not empty my bank account there. I will let my insurance pay for $2000 a year in dental work.
Some people might be good candidates for dentures, but how many dentists are willing to forego the profit loss they'd get if that patient went with dentures instead of having multiple teeth filled, crowned, cleaned 2x a year, etc.?
Another good thing about smoothies is you can blend foods to get a certain flavor.
You can add nuts, seeds, herbs, and it all blends up well.
Other reasons are, it tastes good and it's a healthy habit.
Raw carrots aren't the easiest foods in the world to digest.
Some people even say you absorb more beta carotene from cooked carrots, plus the fact that cooked foods are known to be easier to digest.
A raw carrot in a smoothie is easy to digest as opposed to eating a raw carrot.
I soak nuts in salty water overnight. It makes them much easier to digest as well as chew.
Or, I can say to heck with building my teeth up and keep my money in the bank where it earns 15¢ a month interest.
Oh yeah, the dentists want you to chew your food and spend thousands there in the process.
I can still "chew my food" after it's been blended, with much less wear on my teeth.
Chewing your food is good business for your dentist to help support their extravagant lifestyle, that's nothing at all like my lifestyle.
My new dentist owns his own airplane. Is it any wonder a crown the size of a kernel of corn costs $1100 each?
I'm supposed to cough up thousands of dollars for crowns when his annual income is probably equal to what I made my whole life, or made for decades. I hate to pay into this. I don't believe anyone anywhere should have to pay that much for dental work. 50 years ago a working man could afford dental work but dental prices have steadily increased while the blue collar rate of pay have stagnated. I can't bring myself to empty my savings account to help support a dentist with his own airplane. Even if I have to eat blended foods.
And would you believe, the foods I eat give me nutrition that's probably better than most people's?
