48 hours into no refined sugar products

Refined sugar has a high glycemic index, whereas Honey and Agave syrup do not. I sweeten my coffee with honey or agave.

Can a guy ask how your age sorry if I missed it somewhere
Well I dont know what it is for '53 Stude but I'm in the Over 40 club.

I am still in disbelief, since I pretty much conduct my life like I am 30.

Just a little bit of a pot, other than that, I'm somewhat above average, as liking vavavroom's post.

I just went out and bought more lettuce. And I have only eaten out 3 times over the past month, twice was chicken when I did so, and only medium. This is real progress, some go to McDonalds every. Day... no coffee machine available at work, no real desire to drink coffee though I've made effort, I have heard both the that is garbage coffee, real coffee is ____________ as well as the you're conditioned to think bad coffee tastes good, good coffee is __________ and neither of these addresses the problem that the inherent temperature of coffee and ability to make the coffee while still being where I need to be for work means I basically cannot drink coffee... water bottle at work, with water in it, can have whatever I can pack at break, better to bring lunch than waste the break trying to go eat out.. Over 40 club, who can relate.

I’m a little dense for lack of better word and lost on how to start the kerosine/fasting. From what I’m reading you can fast for 2 hours then eat low carb foods? Or….

Sorry
There's the ketogenic diet. This is a very lo-carb diet that puts your metabolism into ketosis which is the fat burning mode. All you have to do is check the carb content in every food you eat and keep track. No more than 30g of carbs, starches and sugar, is sufficient for most people but some tolerate more, some have to go even lower. It's serious lifestyle change and if you go out with your friends you will have to order the grilled chicken salad and go with simple oil and vinegar dressing or similar.

A low-carb diet serves two purposes. It increases your insulin sensitivity. that means your body has to output less insulin to lower your blood glucose. Insulin acts like a growth hormone in that it makes you convert any extra sugar into body fat. Less insulin means you will not pack on the pounds so easily.

Fasting for less than 14 hours is pointless. You want your body to have completely stopped making insulin, which happens after about 12 hours. By the 14th hour your body will burn body fat for fuel. The second you eat anything (water and unsweetened tea/herbal tea, black coffee are okay) your body will produce insulin and go out of ketosis. The longer you can go after the 14th hour without eating, the more body fat you will burn. It simply has to happen because your body has no choice.

During the 8-hour eating window on a 16-hour intermittent fast, you can eat carbs within reason. You still want to eat a fairly low-carb healthy diet. You do not have to go low-fat, and neither should you. But you must make sure you are still in a caloric deficit.

A few dieting methods compared:

1. Eat less
It works in those who do not have metabolic disorders and who have a lot of time. More likely than not this will not work sufficiently in those with metabolic disorders. It's not for those who have let themselves go for years.

2. Low-Carb Diet
It works in those who do not have metabolic disorders. It may work well in those with metabolic disorders. For a prediabetic this may be all that's needed.

3. Ketogenic Diet
It works in those who do not have metabolic disorders very well and it may be necessary in those with metabolic disorders to achieve weight loss and blood sugar control.

4. Intermittent Fasting
It works in those who do not have metabolic disorders very well and it may be necessary in those with metabolic disorders to achieve weigh loss.

5. Intermittent Fasting and Low-Carb Diet (Ketogenic Diet for fastest results)
That is the most effective option.

6. Dr. Hollywood Diet
Don't eat.

With all diets, people with metabolic disorders need to discuss their diet plan with an endocrinologist and a dietician and they must have their blood glucose under control. Diets can be risky if done recklessly.

#5 No Beer ever!!

I currently walk about 5 miles daily and do sit-ups and push-ups. I do split quite a bit of firewood by hand for few friends also. I do drink a LOT of water daily
While walking 5 miles is good for your all-over health it's not very effective for losing weight. A 15-minute vigorous run would give you a better result. Burpees burn a lot of calories.

Yes, I do a decent amount of walking at work. I’m plenty sore after splitting firewood let me say that 🤣

20min of High intensity interval training would be most beneficial I agree. I seriously could care less how may Steps a person does Whoop agrees with that but that statement angers alot of people.

Good point sir. I will focus on that. May I ask why it’s good to have something with carbs after a good workout? Thank You and also vavaroom

I started at about 41 260lbs now 48 6'1 170 now down about 90lbs and lifting as heavy as I can. You just have to commit to lifestyle change it can happen.

Yeah, but you have to be seen with cameras on you in the gym! LOL

I wasnt going to be as active on here today, but this discussion has really taken off.

So, snacks take you out of ketosis. That's three hours I wasted lol.. I should be able to make it to work tomorrow where I am sure I will have to eat something.

I operate heavy machinery and basically get Stairmaster when I climb onto my equipment and I may need to fall off the wagon at work, my job and the safety of others depends on it. And I will be a supervisor in no time flat, with how good i am, and the unprecedented demand... all the people that come in after me, will ask me how it is done... so the bar is high.

If snacks at work knock you out of ketosis then that sets me back. Still, I have lost 15+lbs since a month ago doing what I am doing so even in an imperfect form.. all I have done is eat less, and cut sugar by about 70%.

When you realize that most Americans eat enough sugar to kill a horse...

Not just working out I talking busting your a$$ that's the game changer. It fuels the glycogen levels when it needs it. Post and pre workout is best timing for carbs fuels workout so you can push it dont take much.. My trainer yes a Girl I followed and was in programs taught me about eating first and for most.drilled me you have to lift like your life depend on it.

I admire you. You started at my weight and you are about an inch taller than me. The only guy at work that I work with that is taller than me is about 6ft2 and formerly worked security before he came to the company I am at and we get along. He loves firearms too. I know the equivalent of 2nd grade math in firearms to what he knows, he has caught me in a couple of things an avid shooter would know that someone that hasn't shot wouldn't. We both operate heavy machinery. His department gets the 5000lbs unit, mine a little less but that is specialized to where it is, not the heaviest machinery, no, but we still need to be safe because people work around us.

So far I have just been doing 1. Eating less and working my way up to 4 and 5 - I even have weights and could go faster on the treadmill etc and use different machines and actually go back to lifting weights.. the Arnold press, shoulder press, chest press, your standard light cardio routine with some Russian Twists thrown in.. there are more it is slipping my mind.. but, as I said, I am a little challenged because at the end of the day I want to go straight to sleep, and my energy level seems lessened.

I wonder if my body will snap itself out of it. I am a month in, of hitting the brakes and the gas at the same time. Maintaining a calorie deficit while needing to be constantly moving and operating a crane at work (yes we have 10000 and 20000lbs overhead cranes) at work is not easy... so, some questions:

1. In the Eat Less scenario, you are never achieving ketosis? So it is literally better to not eat for basically "one day" ? I have used the example that it would be easier for someone to do something like this if they were in jail, and all they HAD to do all day was stand the count and maybe eat if they wanted to. I work full time as I am sure most of us do..

2. Does ketosis occur in your sleep?

Yeah, but you have to be seen with cameras on you in the gym! LOL

Actually, just thinking about food can knock you out of ketosis. If your body expects food, and seen food is a stimulus, the pancreas may excrete insulin expecting the arrival of food. As you have noticed, your method has been working for you, so there's no need to change anything at this point. Modify your diet and eating habits as needed to stay on the current path that will lead you to your goal.

Snacks and Ketosis have nothing to do with each other. Ketosis is the state your body is in burning fat instead of glycogen
Done by keeping carbs down below or at 30 grams total this is just a nutshell books and books on it.

You are very awesome sir lol.

My next post expanded upon the one you quoted lol. But I am happy that I at least have the correct general idea.

Whooooo, I've been active on here today.

If I wentfor a jog.. well then I would be nice and tired, may even be perfect to wake up for 4 in the morning to go to work.. I feel like I'm trying the "I'm Old" version of everything you are supposed to be doing. I think I hear you saying "That counts if it works."

You are correct, of course. Maximum benefit comes only through consistent and persistent hard work. Most people won't engage in your level of physical activity. It takes discipline. I often don't do as I say because I know what is right for me under the given circumstances. I see my fellow runners slugging quarts of Gatorade because they run a couple of miles. Ridiculous.
